It was a warm morning in May when the Winter family's breakfast was interrupted by an owl pecking on their window.
A very unusual sight for any East End family, indeed. Yasmin and Brian, mother and father of the house, looked at each other with confusion written clearly on their faces.
Yasmin stood up and opened the window, letting the barn owl fly straight in and land on the aseeda on their kitchen table.
Their two children squealed in delight while the two parents gasped in horror.
Lucille, the eleven-year-old daughter, grinned when she saw the letter held by the owl was addressed to her.
"Open it, Lucy!" Matthew exclaimed, their breakfast completely forgotten.
Lucille looked at her mother, who gave her a hesitant nod.Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry
Headmaster: Albus Dumbledore (Order of Merlin, First Class, Grand Sorc., Chf. Warlock, Supreme Mugwump, International Confed. of Wizards)
Dear Lucille Winter,
We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment. Term begins on September 1. We await your owl by no later than July 31.
Yours sincerely,
Minerva McGonagall Deputy Headmistress
She read the letter aloud more than once, though none of the four family members understood it, regardless of how many times she repeated it.As the days went by, confusion grew amongst the two children, while the two adults tried to forget it.
If the letter was indeed real, it would go against everything the Quaran and Bible had taught them. Their child could not be some magical being, they thought. The very possibility of Lucille not joining them in Heaven or Jannah was far too heartbreaking.
Of course, as with everything else, refusal would not make the matter disappear. This was proved a week after the arrival of the 6 when their breakfast was once again interrupted. This time by a knock on their door.
"I'll get it!" Lucille jumped out of her seat and ran to the door, her younger brother right behind her.
Brian sighed and left the table once the children had not come back after a short while. Convinced they had gone outside to play.
That was not the case. Instead the two kids stared starstruck at the man who had interrupted their breakfast.
He was peculiar looking. He was abnormally tall and thin, especially for his old age. His white beard and hair long enough to be tucked into his belt, a crooked nose.
"Are you one of them pagans who dress up?" Brian asked, looking at the man's half-moon-shaped spectacles and long gray robes.
"I'm Albus Dumbledore, headmaster of Hogwarts School of Wizardry and Witchcraft." He smiled, his blue eyes twinkling. "I take it you're Mister Winter, Lucille's father?"
Brian's eyes widened. "It's real, then?"
"May I come in?"‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿
AN: A short chapter, but that's simply because it's the introduction to our main character, Lucille, and her family :D
