Emma had always been content with her quiet life. She had her close group of friends, her favorite hobbies, and a comfortable routine that she never strayed from. But all of that changed when the new guy arrived at her school.
His name was Alex, and he was unlike anyone Emma had ever met before. He had an easy smile and an effortless confidence that drew people to him. Emma couldn't help but be intrigued by him, even if she didn't quite understand why.
It was during their shared English class that Emma first really noticed Alex. He was reading a book, his eyes focused intently on the pages, and Emma found herself studying him instead of her own work. She didn't know why, but she felt drawn to him.
After class, Emma hesitated before approaching him. She wasn't usually one to make the first move, but something about Alex made her feel like she needed to. "Hey," she said, trying to sound casual. "What book are you reading?"
Alex looked up and smiled at her. "Oh, just something for fun. It's called 'The Catcher in the Rye.' Have you read it?"
Emma nodded, feeling a spark of excitement at the fact that they had something in common. They chatted for a few minutes before Alex had to head to his next class, but Emma couldn't stop thinking about him for the rest of the day.
Over the next few weeks, Emma and Alex's paths crossed more and more often. They shared a love of music, and Emma was surprised to discover that Alex was an incredible guitarist. They even started hanging out outside of school, going to concerts and exploring the city together.
As they spent more time together, Emma began to realize that she was developing feelings for Alex. She didn't know if he felt the same way, but she couldn't help hoping that he did.
