As Emma and Alex walked back to his car after their date, Emma's heart was racing. She couldn't believe how much fun they had had together, and she was hoping that maybe, just maybe, something more could happen between them.
As they reached the car, Alex turned to Emma and took her hand. "I had a really great time tonight," he said, his eyes meeting hers.
Emma felt a shiver run down her spine at the intensity of his gaze. "Me too," she said, trying to keep her voice steady.
Alex leaned in closer to her, his face just inches from hers. Emma could feel his breath on her skin, and her heart felt like it was going to burst out of her chest.
And then, without warning, Alex kissed her.
Emma's eyes widened in surprise, but then she relaxed into the kiss. It was soft and gentle, but it sent sparks flying through her body. She kissed him back, feeling like she was finally living in one of her favorite romance novels.
When they finally pulled apart, they were both breathing heavily. Emma looked up at Alex, her heart pounding in her chest. "Wow," she whispered.
Alex smiled down at her, his eyes shining. "I've been wanting to do that for a long time," he said.
Emma felt a surge of happiness and relief. "Me too," she said, feeling like all of her dreams were coming true at once.
As they got into the car and drove home, Emma felt like she was on top of the world. She didn't know what the future held, but for now, she was just happy to be with Alex and to know that he felt the same way she did.
