Lea's POV

"Salem! How was school darling?"

He looked over at me and sat down in a chair, shrugging.

"It was alright. Not much happened today...How's Samantha doing? She looked upset?"

"Oh! She's fine. Just, obviously never a fan of leaving work early. She just needed to talk for  a few minutes." I hummed, not missing a single beat. This wasn't the first time I lied for her, and it probably won't be the last. "Speaking of work, I am so sorry I had to work yesterday. What did you and dad do?"

His eyes suddenly lit up as he smiled over at me, sitting up in the chair and getting ready for his little story. This always brought a smile to my face, 14 years later and he still was always so happy to tell me stories.

"First, Dad took me out to Krisses Kosters, then we went to go eat and we came back here watching a bunch of movies!"

"Is that so? That's it darling?"

He looked a little hesitant, before nodding. This tiny hesitation was enough to spike my anxiety again. Although, I didn't want to show him I was worried.

"That sounds amazing! Maybe I'll tag along next time. You are far more important than boring work" I let out a fake groan, earning a laugh from him.

"Anyways, Dad is going to be going to his friends for the night and I am going to be busy..Do you want to stay or go  hang out at Auntie Samantha's house?"

He frowned a bit, causing me to feel guilty. It's wrong of me to be lying to him, but I needed to do this.

"Auntie Samantha.."

"Don't worry, Dad will be back tomorow and we can all go out for some ice cream"

"I know. I just hate when you guys are busy" He mumbled quietly before getting up from the table. "Im gonna pack my bags."

I nod and wave before looking back at the paper. Quickly, I put the number in before throwing it in the recyling bin.

"Mom, have you seen my laundry?"

"I put your clothes on your bed"

"They aren't there."

I tilted my head before walking over into his room. I know I put his clothes there before but sure enough, they were not there.

"Maybe they're in our room. I mix up laundry sometimes" I laugh and shake my head as he follows me back to my room. Of course they were on our bed. But, something was off. They were very disorganized and some of the clothes clearly were missing.

"Did you take some of my clothes?" He joked around, trying to lighten the mood. He must have seen my face.  I quickly laugh and push a finger to my lips.

"I'll never tell! Now, go find some more. I'll wash your clothes for you"

He took a few clothing articles out of the pile before walking off on his new search of laundry.

I shut my door slowly before frantically looking for the missing articles of clothing. Under the bed? Nope. In the bins? Nope. On my husbands night stand...? Yes?

My heart stopped for a few seconds before I threw them in a bin, unsure as to why they are there. My husband can't fit his clothes and they have completly different styles anyways. This caused my anxiety to slowly turn into anger and suspicion.

"Mom are you ready?"

I snap out of my trance, looking over to see Salem by my door, about to knock.

"Yes I am, get into the car, please"

As he does as he's told, I close my door behind and I grab my keys.
