In a perfect world

Me: Hi
Me: Can we call?

Lucas: Sure

My mind raced as I got ready to call a complete stranger. I had been drinking quite a bit and just needed some company to help keep me sane and maybe a little happy too. I tried to get comfortable in my bed, I was home alone, lonely and in need of attention.

Ring…Ring…Ring

Shit he’s calling me! What do I do?? I asked for this! I should just answer.

I quickly press the answer button and he answers with “Hello?” His voice was soothing and sweet.

“Um hi” I respond back.

“What did you need to call for?” He asked, kind of confused.

“I just saw you in the group and wanted to talk to you”

“Oh” he said in a soft tone.

“Sorry, I’m just really drunk”

He laughed at what I had said. I got a little embarrassed.

The night continued as I told him everything I could never tell anyone else. I told him about how I drink to forget all the problems I have in my daily life: family, work, school. I told him about how I’ve always wanted to become a lawyer, and he told me that he was a professor at a college. He was such a good listener and always knew exactly what to say and what advice to give. He wasn’t like any man I had ever met before; I need to keep him in my life... I kind of wanted to flirt with him... I flustered him a bit with my jokes and compliments. Damn was he attractive when he got nervous…

We kept talking about our lives and time passed faster than ever, by the time I looked at my phone again it was half past 12, he told me he needed to sleep because he had work the next day, I also had to attend classes, but I wasn’t as tired as he was. I still felt so lively from all the chatting. I stayed up for a while longer and fell asleep thinking about him and how good my day was with him. I hadn't smiled like that in ages...

We’ve talked every day since we met now, I really enjoy being in his presence. The past few days have been the best I've had in years. I finally had someone to talk to that was on my level. It's like we clicked in the best way possible... Yet, I have embarrassed myself quite a bit as well. Hopefully he doesn’t mind...

He told me he’s needs to leave for a few days, and he’ll get back to me as soon as he can. At first, my heart felt heavy, but I tried to cheer myself up. I wonder when he’ll be back... I wonder how he sees me... I hope I don’t act too weird around him...

I turn off my phone and rest hoping to have a dream about him.
