The Man In Black (Edgerunners x OC)

Opening

3rd POV

Rain pours forth from the heavens. The neon glow of buildings light up the area. But clashing fills the air. Panning to the base of Corpo Plaza we see explosions of light. Two objects dash around as blurs. They settle revealing themselves to be the notorious Adam Smasher and Night City's boogeyman, Archer Black.

Adam: "How much longer must we go in circles Archer? Neither of us are gonna fall."

Archer crouches down gripping the handle of his sword. He vanishes from sight. But Adam turns holding out his heavy machine gun. Archer's sword collides with it sending sparks everywhere. Archer's arms shake as the pressure mounts. 

His sword shatters giving in. This allows Adam to grab Archer's face and slam him onto the ground. Archer reaches for his gun. Adam however grabs Archer's wrist yanking his left arm clean off. He then aims his gun at Archer's face.

Adam: "So long meat sack."

The gun hums beginning to spin. As the bullets are fired Archer closes his eyes, thinking to how he got here. 

*flashback*

We cut to an apartment somewhere in Night City. Going inside we see a group of people surrounding a boy in a yellow jacket. He slowly comes to spotting the group of people.

Lucy: "Excuse me, I was the one to find him."

David: "You fucking lied to me?"

Maine: "Shut up!"

He backhands David.

Maine: "Now spit it, the fuck you doin parading around with my chrome?"

David: "Yours?"

Maine: "You bet your ass. That's right. Bought and paid for. Except my supplier ghosted once I put down."

Dorio: "'S' what you get for payin in advance."

Pilar: "Gonk move."

Maine: "Shut it! She's good people, one of our own. Just lookin to make some fast scratch. She'd been good for it, up till now"

David: "Hold on. Your supplier, you mean..."

Maine: "Gloria Martinez. That ring a bell?"

David: "Well yeah, she's my mom."

Maine: "So you're Gloria's brat? Hell's she thinkin handin it over to you?"

David: "She didn't. She died."

They all show shock.

David: "Yesterday."

Maine: "What the fuck? I just talked to her two days ago. What happened? The badges get her? Or-"

David: "It was a car accident. From some kind of gangoon drive by... got caught in the crossfire. Nothing to do with the Sandevistan."

Maine: "Hmm."

He drops David onto the floor before taking a seat on the couch.

Dorio: "Tracks why she never buzzed us back."

Maine: "Condolences kid. That's tough. But still... don't think for a sec that makes things free'n'easy for you."

David: "Listen. I had no idea it was yours."

Pilar: "Yeah, I member bein a squirt. Chippin all mil-specchrome my ma left lyin around. Good times. Good times.Christ this twerp's clearly got a circ loose."

Dorio: "Back off. He didn't know what he was doing."

David: "So you guys are cyberpunks... aren't you?"

Maine slightly lowers his shades.

Maine: "What's it to ya?"

David: "Let me keep the Sandy. Can't pay you back just now. But I'll work it off. One gig at a time, long as it takes."

Maine: "Not good enough. Shit's military grade. Can't just buy another off the shelf."

David: "Whatever you paid my mom, I'll get it back."

Maine: "No deal."

David: "Come on. At least give me a chance."

Maine: "Now that's funny. I look like I run a preschool to ya?"

David: "I'll fire up the Sandevistan."

Pilar: "Bullshit. Toddler like you can't boot it up without keelin over."

Lucy: "This toddler's full of surprises."

Pilar: "Are you kiddin? Body his size'd sizzle up after two hits."

David: "Try eight. No sizzle."
