I walked into the room and instantly all eyes went to me, some began to whisper, some offered sympathetic smiles. At least half the town was here, which wasn't much. The room was full of the absence of color and gloom. I walked to the table with food and drink and grabbed a bottle of wine.

Let them whisper about this. I popped the cork and poured a glass.

"I knew I'd find you over here," Lou winked at me.

I couldn't help but smirk, "No where else I'd rather be,"

Next to her a familiar face popped up. "Peasha! Thank you for coming." Lous mom stood exactly six inches higher than me, with light olive skin that shined, curls that defined her face and fell below her shoulder's. If I didn't grow up with her being like a second mom to me, I'd suspect she's around our age.

"This looks beautiful, you did a great job."

"Thank you," I looked around at everything. It was nice. I opened the bank account for it. I hired chefs to make good food, there was at least half a grand of lilies and the dress I bought was more than I've spent on rent, which I won't be needing to do anymore.

As I glanced around, I felt eyes on me. Once I caught people staring, they awkwardly looked away, obviously it's an uncomfortable situation and you are unsure on how to act or what to say to the grieving.

I took another sip. I can't wait for this to be over.

She moved a strand of hair out of my face. "I am so sorry, honey pie." I smiled at the nickname she's called me since I was basically a toddler. I gave her a little smile. She knew how my mother was and she probably knew how I didn't feel much for the passing.

She glanced behind me at the table, suddenly her mouth and eyes went wide.

"Oh my god. Excuse me girls,"

We laughed as she scuttled away towards the food.

"How are you feeling today?" I asked, glancing down at her tummy. She gave a hint of a smile, "A little nauseous today but we're holding up." Unconsciously, she rubbed her barely noticeable bump and smiled.

"You seem happier today," I took observation. She looked up, gleefully. "Uh, I- uh. I didn't want to tell you today, but I took your advice and talked to the father... He wants to be a family."

"Oh, my god, Lou. That is great!" I beamed, bringing her in for a quick hug. "I am so happy for you."

"Does she know about it?" I nodded towards Peasha.

She shook her head, "No, and I'm not planning on it until I graduate with my degree. She'll be happy, though."

Even though everything seemed good, she frowned.
