will sat alone on the floor of his room, listening to mike's repeated ringing of the doorbell.

he knew eventually he would mess up the doorbell, so he switched to knocking.

every ten seconds or so, mike would shout will's name.

he knew will was home, but will had locked the door before mike was able to run inside.

eventually, will started to get tired of the ringing.

he held his hands over his ears for a couple seconds, quickly giving up as the noises were starting to twist and sound louder.

"god, would you shut up, mike!" will whispered yelled.

he wiped his running tears quickly, and began to run out of his room.

he tip toed, hoping not to make any loud noises that would make mike think he was going to open up for him.

as will snuck around to the back door, he heard what sounded like crying.

he stopped dead in his tracks.

is mike.. crying? will thought, slowly moving towards the windowless big brown door.

he put his ear up to it.

"please, will. i'm sorry." a voice sobbed.

he knew it was mikes, and he wanted to let him in.

so he did the only think he could think to do.

"mister wheeler? skip him, he's boring." max said, sighing.

el spun the coke bottle around the wheel again, landing on mike wheeler.

el looked up at max, who was quick to speak.

"el- it's okay if you don't want to do mike. i know you guys are at a weird place right now- with the breakup and everything." max said, putting her hand on el's shoulder supportively.

"no!" el said, pausing for a moment, "i mean, i'm fine. i can do it."

"are you sure?" max asked, with the same sympathy in her voice.

"yes." el replied, taking her hand off of the bottle.

"just- dont stay in there too long, ok?" max said, hoping desperately el wouldn't see mike again and try getting back together with him.

"ok. i promise." el said, holding out her pinky, and interlocking it with max's.

el smiled back, and handed her the blindfold sitting next to her.

el used her powers to drag the tv over to them, it took some extra strength but max didn't really question it, el tied the blindfold around her eyes and took in a deep breathe.

the tv turned to static as el sat there.

"how long does this take again?"

"max."

"sorry."

will knocked on the door, which may have seemed like an odd thing to do considering he was on the inside, but it let mike know that he was listening.

mikes sobs and screams stopped in an instant.

"will? can you please open up? can i please explain?" mike said, his voice breaking a few times.

will lingered in front of the door.

are you sure you want to hear what he has to say? it's probably just going to hurt you even more.

will broke his chain of thoughts before they started getting out of control.

he looked around his house anxiously, stalling so that he wouldn't have to have an uncomfortable lecture with mike.

he saw how messy the house was.

when he had ran in, he mindlessly threw things around in distress.

he frowned at the mess he knew he would have to deal with. but that was for him to worry about later.

he moved his vision back to the door, gulping before swinging it open.

el ripped her blindfold off in anger.

"it's not working." she said, to a concerned red head.

"huh. that's weird." max said, trying to muster up why they might not be functioning properly.

"have you drunken anything today?" max asked, raising an eyebrow.

"i drink water most of the time."

"eaten?"

"you made me soup."

"right. showered?"

"before my date with mike, yes."

"huh." max said, breaking the frenzy of words flying in the air.

"um, el?" max said, considering one last possibility.

"did you maybe.. use a lot of your emotions while you and mike were arguing? or like- throw things around?" max asked, trying to come up with a reason why any of this was happening.

el didn't answer.

she just stood up, grabbed max by the hand, and dragged her out of the room.

el had led her in front of the bathroom door, which seemed to be damaged and tarnished. the knob barely hanging on and el looking regretful.

she tried to best to use her powers to open the door, and after a tense moment, it spudded open.

"holy sh*t!"

hey guys, i'm sorry this chapter was shorter than usual!! i'm preparing for the next chapter, which will be pretty long and blend with the description of the book a lot better.

also, my apologies for making this both an elmax and a byler book! i wanted to find a way of not rushing things, so adding more story parts to it and making it a two-sided book came easily to me and seemed to be the best option, since the majority of byler shippers also ship elmax.

You've reached the end of published parts.
