Chapter 6- Save me.

Chapter 6

                   It was horrible. Absolutely horrible. The second I saw it tears welled up in my eyes. I’ve lived here for two days and someone has already broken into my apartment. Everything was broken and ripped into pieces from my TV to all of my clothes. I walked just into my doorway and slowly scanned my eyes over my broken sad apartment. I looked up only to see a man and a woman standing there staring at me with evil, cruel smirks on their faces. Once I saw who these people were, I didn’t care about all of the damage that had been done to my apartment. The woman slowly walked up to me and glared at me for a second. “Kat. Are you ready for your punishment? You have been very bad.”  She evilly whispered into my ear. I just stood there frozen. Completely unsure of what to do. She walked around me and stopped behind me grabbed my wrists and held them to my back with one hand and pulled a knife up to my throat. “Please. Don’t. Hurt. Me.” I tried to plead but it didn't work. She put the knife to my thigh and jabbed the knife all the way in. Only a small whimper escaped my lips because I didn’t want these two to be happy with my pain. “How did you find me?” I demanded trying to desperately distract them to find a way to get to Cade. “That doesn’t matter sweetheart. Now shut up or you’re getting stabbed more.” The man spat at me and I automatically felt the same disgust towards these two that I always have. “Derek, Melissa, please let me go…” I quietly said. These were the adoptive parents that beat me to a pulp when I was 15. They were the last people to have had me before I escaped them and was taken back to the adoption center. “Don’t speak to your parents like that!” Melissa demanded as she stabbed me in the stomach. This time I didn’t care anymore. I screamed at the top of my lungs “CADE! ALYSSA! SAVE ME!” This time Derek pulled out a gun and shot my shoulder. “You idiot. We told you to shut up. You have always been a terrible child and you always will be. You are coming with us. Now.” He said. Melissa put her hand over my mouth and turned me around when Cade and Alyssa came running through my doorway. They stopped and looked completely shocked as they saw blood pouring out of my shoulder, thigh, hip, and stomach. I had tears welled up in my eyes but I refused to let them fall. I wasn’t going to let them enjoy the fact that they were able to hurt me once again. “Let her go!” Cade shouted at them. Alyssa walked out for a second then came back in again holding a rock and shouted “We said let her go!” and threw the rock really hard and surprisingly hit Melissa really hard in the nose but as Melissa lost her grip on me her knife cut my throat and I stumbled a few steps before Cade caught me and picked me up and the next thing I knew, I was laying in the backseat of Cade’s car and he and Alyssa trapped Derek and Melissa in my apartment and the cops and the ambulance was coming around the corner in a matter of seconds. Cade then gently lifted me out of the car and laid me on the gurney for the paramedics to take care of me and Derek and Melissa were separated and locked into separate police cars. And in what felt like to be a matter of minutes I was in a room with doctors surrounding me cleaning all of my cuts and giving me stitches. After they finished with my cuts they saw the gunshot wound in my foot and all I heard was that I needed surgery before they put a needle in my arm and I was out cold.

                             Cade’s POV-

                   Alyssa and I sat in the hospital waiting room for about two hours just staring at the wall both of us deep in thought. “Maybe we should cancel our plan. We clearly wouldn’t be her biggest problem….” I said only loud enough for Alyssa to hear. “What!? Are you crazy!? We can’t just quit! We have to finish what we started.” Alyssa stated angrily. “Well then we have to at least postpone it until she gets better.” I said. And this time I was going to stand my ground. Alyssa must’ve realized that there was no way I was going to be talked out of that so she just nodded in agreement. Finally Harry and Bela’s shifts ended and they arrived at the hospital and sat in the waiting room with us until a doctor finally came out and walked up to us and asked if we were here for Katsya. “Yes. How is she? Can we see her? When can she be discharged?” I immediately starting asking all sorts of questions and he answered what he could. “She is fine now. Yes you can see her and she will be spending the night here tonight and if she is well enough tomorrow she can leave.” The doctor stated then motioned for us to follow him so we could see Kat. We quickly arrived at a door that had a sign on it that said “Katsya Isabella” so we walked in. She didn’t notice us at first until Alyssa rudely cleared her throat to catch Kat’s attention. “Oh. Hey guys. I’m glad to see you.” She said with a sigh at the end before I couldn’t help myself and I just blurted out “How are you feeling? Are you okay? I’m so sorry that happened! We should have arrived sooner!” I didn’t mean to over load her with questions right after surgery but it just came flowing out of my mouth. “I’m fine Cade, Thank you. And you guys were there in time trust me you arrived with perfect timing. But Alyssa, Cade, thank you SO much for saving me. There is no way I could thank you enough I am so grateful to have such amazing friends in my life.” She said with watery eyes. My legs automatically walked me over to her and I just hugged her and was clinging to her as if I was afraid that if I let go, she would float away and disappear forever and I couldn’t stand the thought of not having her around. During the time we were hugging, a nurse came in and told Alyssa, Bela, and Harry they had to leave but I could stay. And I was so happy I could stay here with her and protect her. “Bye guys! Thanks for visiting! See you tomorrow!” Kat quickly yelled to them before they walked out and they chorused through goodbyes before Kat and I were left alone together. Finally I built up the courage and I went for it. I grabbed her hands in mine and looked her straight in the eyes and said “Kat, there is something I need to tell you that I have been hiding from you and I’m ashamed I kept it secret but I think it’s time you know.” Alyssa is going to be so pissed at what I’m about to tell her.
