"Oh my god, you came!" Daphine's pregnant belly hugged me first," you look beautiful!"

"Thank you," I tried to hug her back and moved on to Tiffany," your home is lovely."

Tiffany seemed to take pride in this, but she said," don't act too impressed, you live in the alphas house after all."

I pursed my lips and took a seat. I chugged the delicious cocktail and moved on to a next one.

"I was just telling Daphine about my doctor's appointment. They said it's a boy!"

"Congrats," I watched Tiffany stuff buttered toast into her mouth and did the same," have you named him?"

"We don't choose the names, the people at The Stationary will do that."

"Are you going to put him in the one near Akbur Hills?" I asked. I recalled the man working there; Norman, mentioning something about there being a 100 person capacity.

"I'm not sure yet, I think I'd like for him to be close so I can visit and check on his process-"

"He's the beta's son, you have nothing to worry about, he's going to come out just as strong as the first one!" said Daphine.

I could remember Norman saying something about there being the Beta's son in The Stationary and realized that it meant that Tiffany has already had one half-blood.

"Oh I hope so! The other one is top of his class in The Arena, he's taken down one of their professors."

Tiffany and Daphine giggled over wine and little cheese sandwiches. I could not help but wonder what was the point of them being so small if they were going to have ten of them. I also could not help but wonder if these girls also came from villages like I did, if they had family somewhere in the world that they wondered about.

"So," Daphine's eyes glistened at me like she was stumbling upon new found gossip," we're all dying to know. What's he like?"

"What's who like?"

"Who else, Damon!"

"Aren't they all the same? Evil, corrupt, power hungry, murderous, inhuman?" I munched on a grape while saying this. Their shocked gazes took me by surprise.

Did I say something wrong?

Tiffany cleared her throat. Daphine chugged on some water. I sat up on my chest and asked," so where were you guys taken from? I was taken from this village that was demolished, all my people are in Akbur Hill-"

Daphine had spilled her water and stood to her feet.

"Maid, I need a maid, now!" She screeched out. A girl hurried to her side to clean up the mess. I could not help but think that Daphine had done it on purpose to stop me from talking.
What was the point of meeting privately than if we could not disuse the elephant in the room? Perhaps there were cameras, perhaps I was being too forward.
Loud footsteps thudded against the marble ground. I could feel the air shift to tense as the beta, Luke made himself visible. I recognized him immediately from the meeting I had eavesdropped on and the vampire incident. Daphine silently and nervously took her seat. Tiffany peered up at him with nervous eyes but he was staring at me.

"Ava, right?" His voice was rough. I nodded. I remembered how he'd rooted for Damon during the battle with Jacob.

"We're just having some dinner, honey. Do you want us to leave-"

"No no, the alphas doll is here, she should be treated with the respect of her status."

His eyes landed on the cocktail closest to Tiffany," what's this-"

"It's just a smoothie-"

Luke grabbed the drink faster than I could have seen it happen. He smelt it once and slammed it onto the table where it burst into a million pieces. Daphine and I flinched but Tiffany didn't.

"What the hell did I tell you about drinking when your pregnant-"

Luke used his free hand to summon a ground shattering slap to Tiffany's face. She clutched it as if to calm the pain and stared down with flooded eyes. I stopped myself from darting up and lunging out at him. I knew that despite being the alphas doll and with a temper like that, Luke would probably kill me.
"I'm sorry," Tiffany breathed out. Luke grabbed the bottle of wine from the table and yelled," can someone get in here and take all these fucking glasses?"

The house staff hurried to clear the table. Luke grabbed a teenage boy by his collar," find out who even served her liquor and bring them to my office."
The boy shook under the pressure of his gaze and squealed out," yes sir."

I looked to meet Daphine's eyes but she seemed nonchalant as if she was used to this behavior. I wondered if at home, her mate does the same to her. I thought about Damon and when he'd think it was finally necessary to take measures like these with me.

Luke stormed off and it seemed like the girls were in a hurry to get the conversation back on track. Things seemed to go back to normal within seconds. I did not ask again about their life prior to this, I understood that these women lived life walking in eggshells and avoiding the tough subjects in life because they had accepted a long time ago that there was nothing that could be done anyway. I kept my plants with Evan a secret until I knew that I could trust them.

Later on the topic of the werewolf girl at the party came up and my attention was quickly captured.

"You're talking about the one that was sitting with Damon right?" I sat up.

"Yes, that's the one. She's like some werewolf hooker or something," Daphine was saying.

"But she doesn't charge any money she like does it for free," Tiffany said, whose face was still bright red with the outline of Luke's palms.

"Do you think she's slept with Damon?" I asked.

"Yes, she's slept with all of them. It's like validation for her."

"Why would she need validation?"

"Well, ever since the discovery half blood hybrids and the human dolls, nobody really wants a werewolf girl to mate with anymore-"

"But the only werewolves who can get a doll is the ones at the top of the pack right?" I asked.

"Well yes, but it makes them hate us even more because they know deep down that their mates want a hybrid baby. It's the ultimate status symbol when you're a werewolf."

There was silence for a moment.

"Don't you think it's funny?" I finally mumbled to no one in particular.

"What is?" Tiffany reached around the table for her wine glass and frowned when it wasn't there.

"That they keep us down, slave and enprison us but they still need us because it's our blood that makes them somehow stronger-"

"Shhhh lower your voice, do you want to be the next one getting slapped up and down," Daphine hushed.

"He would never touch her, she's the alphas," Tiffany rolled her eyes.

"But think about it," I demanded a reversion to their attention," if only we can use the hybrids to be on our side and not theirs, we could take them all out and save our race."

"Can you shut up with this nonsense please-" it was Daphine.

"How?" Tiffany asked. She had a curious shimmer in her eyes," how would we even do it?"

I knew that it was far too early to trust them with anything that Evan and I were planning. I shrugged and mumbled," I have no idea, just dreams I guess."
