The doctor and I sat in silence during the drive to Tiffany's house. He did not look at me, and I knew that there was nothing that I could say, not with Bullet present. My thoughts raced back and fourth about what Tiffany had to say to me. I was half expecting to walk into an ambush with her and Luke. She might have told him everything, I could be walking into a trap...
We had stopped at Tiffany's house a little while later. I nodded my goodbye at the doctor. His quick grip clasped on my hands and I felt him shove something into my palms and quickly retrieve. I cleared my throat and tried to act as nonchalant as possible. Bullets eyes were on me now."I'll pick you up in one hour," he said.
I nodded," okay."
I rushed out of the vehicle and waited for it to drive away before discovering that in my palm was a tiny piece of paper. I unwrapped it quickly and out fell a little pill. There was a message on the paper.
Take this and you will lose your ability to ever have a child.
"Ava, you came!" Tiffany's shrieky voice exploded through the silence. I quickly shoved the pill and the paper into my pockets and turned to face her.
"You said it was important," I replied.
"It is. We can't talk now, Luke is here. Come quickly, act normal. He'll leave in a little while."
She linked her arm with mine and we walked into her home past the massive staircase and into the living room. Luke's presence held a similar weight. It reminded me of Damon's presence, it almost felt as if the air was heavy.
"Sweetheart, Ava is here."
He nodded my way without an expression.
"I hope you're doing alright Luke."
"Just fine," he grumbled and chugged the remaining whiskey in his glass.
"We're going to have a little bit of a ladies night tonight."
"Alright alright, that's my queue to leave then," he stood up and it felt as if the ground had shuddered," I'm off to Somber Forest to check on the troops. Stay away from the liquor cabinet," he warned her.
She smiled a grin full of teeth. I could see the red bruise on her jaw beneath her cakey makeup. It looked as if she tried to stack as much foundation on her skin in hopes of covering it. I examined the rest of her skin. I could count the visible bruises and the ones that seemed to have faded. I could count the scratches too. I felt more sorry for her.
"Of course honey. You have a good night tonight."
Luke marched out.
"Would you like something to drink, Ava? Or perhaps some snacks?" I could tell that Tiffany was speaking in a louder tone then usual to keep Luke from suspecting anything.
"I'd love some water and maybe some fruit," I answered.
"Carla!"
The maid came rushing in.
"Can you fix a fruit platter for us? And some waters please, and a wine for Ava- you drink, right Ava?"
"Yes I do-"
"Perfect, and a red wine please, a Shiraz!"
The maid hurried out. I turned to Tiffany and waited for her closure.
Moments later while we sat in silence, Carla rushed in with the massive tray of fruit , water and wine. She set the contents down on the glass table and hissed at Tiffany," he's gone!"
"Oh, thank goodness!" Tiffany grabbed a glas of wine and chugged the dark red liquid in seconds. She slammed it back down on the table," can we have another please," and as Carla rushed to get another she added," just get the whole bottle actually!"
"Isn't it bad for the child," I did not want to overstep and so I asked this as softly as I could.
"The baby is half fucking wolf. It can handle a couple glasses of wine."
I quickly changed the subject," so tell me what was so important."
Carla left the bottle and Tiffany waited for her to leave before saying," I have something that may help you."
"What is it?"
She reached into her bra and pulled out a tiny sphere attached to a necklace. She opened the pendant and inside was a small earring in the shape of an airplane.
"This was given to me by my father when I was a little girl. He was a pilot. I lost the other one."
I refrained from dropping my jaw,"Tiffany, is this silver?" I whispered, staring at her with wide eyes.
She blinked away tears."Yes. 100% silver. I kept it for emergencies. Luke can never know."
"Of course not. I would never tell him, are you sure about this?"
"Where else are you going to get silver? The only thing I ask is that you tell me your entire plan. Don't leave anything out, I deserve to know."
I gulped. I had a feeling that I could trust Tiffany and so I spilled the beans on everything that we had come up with so far.
"Kill Damon, and get added to the council, take back the decision to kill humans, and instead work with the wolves to kill all vampires," Tiffany concluded.
"Yes, exactly. The reason Damon wants to kill all humans is to cut the vampire's blood supply. No humans means vampires will starve to death."
"How are you so sure that the wolves won't kill you for killing their alpha? And how would you help them kill off the vampires?"
"It's their tradition, I seen it. Whoever kills their alpha claims his spot. I'm sure they will not make me alpha, nor Evan. But it will at least earn me a spot with the council. Luke will probably be the alpha and he seems much more lenient then Damon."
Tiffany chucked," you don't know him well enough. I've seen him do things that will make your blood run cold."
I suddenly didn't doubt it.
"And the vampires?" she continued," how do you plan on killing the vampires?"
"I haven't gotten that far yet," I sighed.
"I have an idea."
I sat up to show her I'm listening. She took a chug of her wine and began.
"Vampires can't have werewolf blood, it's poisonous to them, it makes them sick for days, sometimes months. It could even kill them."
"So?"
"So, it only takes a drop of werewolf DNA to contaminate an entire human body. If we could convince the council to administer samples of their spit or blood, we can inject all humans and make our blood deadly to all vampires."
"Wouldn't the wolf DNA turn us into them?"
"No, it doesn't work like that. You cannot be turned into a wolf, you have to be born one. The DNA will not do anything but alter our blood."
"It's a good idea, but how do we get them to do for this?"
"They need us. Even when the vampires are gone, the wolves know that the strongest breed, even stronger than a fully fledged vampire, is a human-wolf hybrid. They have to go for it."
"I'll tell Evan about all of this, we'll see what he says," I said, and out of pure curiosity, I asked her," how do you know all of this?"
"When I was first brought here, I used to listen in on all of their meetings, back when Damon's father was the alpha, I was terrified of Luke. When he caught me, he sent me into the cell for days."
Carla rushed in once again," your driver is here, Mrs. Ava."
I hid the silver in my pocket. I remembered the pill that the doctor had given me. I wrapped it in the piece of paper and handed it to Tiffany.
"What's this?" she asked.
"Open it when you're alone."
I followed Carla out, well aware of Tiffany's curious I eyes on my back.
