It was late at night when Jisoo heard a knock at her door. By this time, most of the people in Seoul had gone to sleep. Jisoo frowned, peeking her head over her covers. Jisoo wasn't in any mood to entertain anyone, but if someone was at her door this late, it was probably important. Jisoo let out a silent groan, wiping at her eyes and coughing down the last of her sobs. A quick glance at the mirror on her desk showed her face was obviously streaky from tears, but all she could do to remedy this was frustratedly drag her palms down her cheeks. Jisoo looked like a mess. At least whoever was at the door would probably retreat after seeing her in such a pathetic state, not that she necessarily wanted her superiors to know how stupidly sensitive she was.

Jisoo sighed again, and, steeling herself, went to the door. Jisoo had about ten different reasons for her looks prepared, and, if they all failed, ten different excuses. Surely her senior would believe one or another.

Unfortunately, she never seemed to get that lucky. When she pressed the button to open her door, the very reason she was crying stood in front of it, not looking very sorry. Too shocked to say anything, she gaped up at her, mortification crawling over her skin. Here she was, in hysteric tears, looking for all the world like a pathetic teenager, right in front of Jennie.

Unable to find words, she just stood there, staring up at her with a stupid expression on her face. She looked equally dumbfounded, mouth slightly agape as she blinked down at her. The pause while either of them fumbled for something to say was excruciating.

For a moment, Jisoo considered just shutting the door.

But no, Jisoo liked having a job, which meant she had to stand there in front of that horrible woman and act as if she hadn't sent the younger girl into a fit several hours ago that she was still crying about. Swallowing thickly, Jisoo tried to project her voice when she snapped, "Did you need something?"

Jennie continued staring at Jisoo for another second, before her eyebrows drew together into an expression that practically made her flinch. Mouth quirking into a smirk that had never brought anything good, ever, she sneered, "Are you fuckin' crying?"

Jisoo shifted on her feet, embarrassment washing over her hotly. It felt like her whole body was burning with humiliation. Jisoo repeated, playing with her hands in front of her chest, "Did you need something?"

She let out a snort. "Jesus Christ. Fuckin' look at you..." With a little huff, the cat eyed girl brought a hand to the back of her neck, shaking her head. Before Jisoo could spit something catty back at her, Jennie walked ahead, and she couldn't do anything but move away as she intruded her space.

"What—Hey! I—I didn't say you could—You can't just walk in here—" Jisoo followed her stupidly, blustering, but she obviously wasn't even listening. She walked past her, and, infuriatingly, sat on her bed. Jisoo finally lost her patience, thrusting her hands out and crying, "What are you doing?"

Completely unbothered by her attitude, Jennie rolled her eyes. "I did come to apologize, but obviously..." She leaned back against the wall, leveling her with a frustratingly patronizing stare, "Someone's not ready to be a big girl about it."

Jisoo screwed her face up, feeling a fresh wave of tears well up. A lump rose in her throat, hot and itchy, and she swallowed it down hard. Jisoo couldn't even think of anything to say, too fucking embarrassed to face Jennie like this. All she could think to do was turn derisively, slamming her finger against the button to shut the door again. Jisoo stood facing away from Jennie for a second, trying to collect her breath, but it was impossible when she knew Jennie was just staring at her, knowing she'd gotten to her. Like she always did.
