She doesn't know how, but instead of going to sleep, Lyra ended up sitting next to Vanya in the most awkward family reunion. She felt extremely uncomfortable. She never liked being in awkward situations, especially ones where she's not involved in. She wanted to just get up and leave, but she thought it would be rude of her to just stand up and leave during a meeting.
She looked around the room, everyone's heads down, Allison drinking a glass of whiskey. She looked at Diego, his eyes glancing at the tiles, only looking up when he feels someone's eyes gazing at him. The two look at each other for a moment, Diego looking at her in suspicion and Lyra looking at him in interest, only for their moment to be interrupted.
"I guess we should get this started," Luther cleared his throat, "So, I figured we could have a sort of memorial service in the courtyard at sundown," He decided, "Say a few words, just at Dad's favourite spot."
"Dad had a favourite spot?" Allison asked. What kind of weirdo has a favourite spot? Lyra said to Allison in her mind.
My dad. Apparently.
"You know, under the oak tree," He reminded her, "We used to sit out there all the time. None of you ever did that?" He sounded shocked, looking around at all the siblings, who seemed as confused as Allison.
"I'm sorry, why does it feel like I'm the only one who cares about this whole thing? And who even are you? You're not even part of this family?" He pointed at Lyra, who was uncomfortable with the sudden spotlight shining on her.
"Luther! You can't talk to her like that!" Klaus cuts his sister out, scolding Luther as he entered the room, holding a glass of whiskey, a trophy and a cigarette, "Do you even know who you're talking to?"
"Does it matter?" Luther raised his eyebrow.
"Yes Luther of course it does!" Klaus exclaimed, "This is Lyra Hartridge we're talking about! You don't talk to an award-winning actress like that!" All eyes landed on Lyra, who was turning red and looked everywhere but at the people in the room, feeling a certain spandex-wearing male's eyes staring at her.
"That doesn't matter Klaus, all that matters is that she isn't part of our family and shouldn't be—"
"She's staying." All eyes turned to Allison.
"Allison, you can't think this is a good idea—" Luther tried to reason with her.
"I asked her to come, so she's staying." She said sternly.
Yay! More awkward silence. The dark-haired girl inwardly rolled her eyes. Mentally thanking Klaus for saving the day.
"Anyways, will there be refreshments?" He asked Luther, "Tea? Scones? Cucumber sandwiches are always a winner."
