George

Harry had just informed us of the first official meeting of Dumbledore's Army, which would be to following Wednesday evening, nearly two weeks after the initial meeting at the Hog's Head. I had taken it upon myself to tell Edith, I had no idea how she'd gotten wind of the whole thing to begin with, but I wanted to make sure she kept coming.

I sat strategically at the end of the Gryffindor table closed to the Entrance Hall so I wouldn't miss her on her way to breakfast. A quick scan of the Great Hall showed me that she had't arrived yet. I was practically vibrating, I was so eager to speak with her and now I had a legitimate reason to.

She wasn't long coming down with the other Ravenclaw sixth-years. I jumped up when I saw her, anxious to get to her first.

'Oi, Edith,' I called to her, walking briskly over to greet her. The Phillips girl shot a mischievous grin in her direction and I couldn't help my own smile.

'Erm... hello George,' Edith said a bit hesitantly.

I was encouraged by the little look her friend had given her. Maybe she spoke about me when I wasn't around.

I looked around the Entrance Hall to make sure no one was eavesdropping. There weren't too many people around. They were a bit late coming to breakfast, most everyone else was already inside the Great Hall.

'We're having the first meeting Wednesday evening,' I told her quietly.

'Oh, right,' she nodded. 'Cho already told me.'

Right, that was how she'd got wind of the group. I'd nearly forgotten Harry and Cho were sort of close.

'Oh... good,' I nodded and looked over my shoulder again. 'You know where it is? Seventh-floor, across from that mad tapestry of Barnabas the Barmy?'

'Aye, she told me that, too,' she told me with a small smile.

I sucked in a breath as her soft blue gaze met mine again and I felt an almost unnatural sense of calm. I hadn't realized it earlier, but I was anxious to see her. Somehow, just being close to her made me feel more settled. What was with her? There was something different about her and I was desperate to find out what it was.

'You know where you're going?' I asked with a slight smirk, regaining my composure quickly. 'Want me to show you the way?'

I really just wanted another reason to spend time with her. Alone, if I could help it. I knew the most direct route to the seventh-floor, but I also knew the most roundabout way to get there as well.

She cleared her throat before answering and I grinned a bit wider, pleased to see that I seemed to be having as much of an effect on her as she was on me.

'I think I can find my own way,' she told me with a little gleam in her eye. 'I'm pretty sure I can count seven flights of stairs.'

'You're sure?' I pressed, grinning wider, bantering with her was one of my favourite things to do. 'It's no bother. I'll meet you outside your common room.'

'How do you know where my common room is?' She asked.

I only tapped my nose. Best to keep her guessing. I could meet her outside of her common room, I did know where it was. It would be fun to keep her wondering when I was going to appear outside of Ravenclaw Tower.

'Can't give away all my secrets,' I replied with a wink.

'Right,' She rolled her eyes, but then she laughed. 'There's a frightening thought. How do I know you're not going to play any more jokes on me?'

'When was the last time I played a joke on you?' I placed a hand to my chest, feeling slightly offended. I hadn't played any jokes on her since I'd turned her hair blue a year ago. Then again, she might have thought it a joke when I'd asked her to go to the Yule Ball with me.
