4 Things Christians should knowAno yung apat na bagay na kailangang malaman ng bawat Kristiyano? Alam kong palagi itong nilelecture sa simbahan, pero paano na yung iba na hindi pa nakakaalam? Well, here are the things according to Pastor Wellman:
1. Know the Gospel Well Enough to Share it
Recently, I had the great privilege of leading a young lady to saving faith in Christ. After she understood what repentance was, the reason that we need to confess our sins, and how to trust in Christ as Her Savior, I told her something. I said "Act like I'm not saved and tell me what I must do to be saved?" She was able to. If you don't know how to tell someone how they can be saved, then you don't know it well enough and every believer should know this because that is our part of the great commandment of the Great Commission (Matt 28:18-20; Acts 1:8).2. How to Pray
Jesus gave us the template for prayer in what is commonly called the Lord's Prayer in Matthew 6:7-13. We are to hallow or give reverence to God's name, to pray for His kingdom to come, for His will to be done, to give us our daily bread, to forgive us of our sins, to keep us from temptation, and deliver us or keep us from the Evil One. We should pray to the Father, through the name of Jesus, in the Holy Spirit, and pray for His will to be done in our lives. Here is a short acrostic for how to pray that you may have read before and goes by the word "ACTS."A - Adoration to the Father
C - Confession of sin
T - Thanksgiving to Him for all He has done for us
S - Supplication or our prayer request given to Him3. Know your Bible
It seems the more that I read the Bible, the more I realize just how much of it I don't know. If you stay in the Word, the Word will stay in you. Read the Bible and the Bible will read you. Go through the Bible and the Bible will go through you. God speaks to us through His written Word and His will can be found in the pages of Scripture. How many times have you heard the pastor say, "Now turn to Haggai and chapter 1, verse 10" and have no clue where it's at? I truly believe that the more you acquaint yourself with the Bible the more you'll grow to love the Word of God and as David did, have a hunger and thirst for it (Psalm 42:1-2).4. Hide His Word in Your Heart
It is very important to memorize Scripture too as Psalm 119:11 says, "I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you." Notice that the psalmist says that he wants to store up in his heart or memorize God's Word in his heart. In the Jewish language, the heart was the seat of intellect so when it says to store up His Word in the heart, he means memorize it. Why? So that we "might not sin against" God. When we are tempted, we can quote Scripture, just as Jesus did in Wilderness against Satan. This can help us resist sin's temptation and the Enemies fiery darts. Here are a few I suggest you memorize that are very important to every believer:
Second Corinthians 5:21 "For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God."
First John 1:9 "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
Romans 10:9 "if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
I could go on but you get the point.-© Pastor Jack Wellman
