"finally." I breathed as I got to the opening of the cave. It was wider than expected, with a gold cross sitting on top. There was an engraving on the left of the opening. "Ye who enters here may not escape. Don't go alone or with someone who will abandon you." I read aloud.
I rolled my eyes and started inside. The floor was wet dirt, making me slowly sink with each step. I cringed with each step. If I didn't know any better I'd say that this floor was made from dog shit. I heard a slight gurgle from the cave. "Hello?" I called out. "Who's there?"
More gurgling. I ran to find the source, stopping at a small blue light. Kneeling down I plucked the bunch of glowing mushrooms from the ground. Objective Complete: Shroom Hunter. See the assigner for reward. Optional objective unlocked:???
I sighed and put the mushrooms in my bag, making my way towards the back of the cave. The gurgling noise became more and more apparent as I began to see a trail of red on the ground. It didn't take long before the old man came into view, he had blood dripping from his mouth and nose, emitting another gurgle. I stood there and watched. He might have something good on him, let's see. I heard one final choke from the man before I knelt down to check his pulse. Nothing. "Perfect."
I Searched through his things, finding 200 gold, an iron sword, and a gold necklace. The necklace had an odd red aura surrounding it. Objective complete: ???. Reward: Curse Of Binding "What the hell is that?" Another information box popped up with a ding. The Curse Of Binding: Whatever this curse is placed on is unable to be rid from the owner. If they loot the item, they are stuck with it until they themselves are looted. The item has no value or stat bonus. Good luck
I grumbled. "God damnit this stupid necklace. Fuck you." I threw the necklace down, as soon as it hit the ground it disappeared. Checking my bag, it was in there. "Well I'll be damned." I sighed and made my way back out of the cave. It was dark again. I got my new sword ready and headed of. Coming back across the old cabin, the light in the kitchen was now off. I stopped for a second, letting myself linger on the old place, before seeing a bright white pair of eyes. "Nope, fuck off." I started running away in hopes I could avoid combat.
=====================
My body trudged back up to the shop, going on day three without sleep seems to have finally caught up to me. I opened the door and threw the bag of mushrooms on the shop keep's desk. "Alright you prickly rodent, here's the mushrooms you asked for."
Poe opened the bag, eyeing the mushrooms. "I have to say you are an awfully fast fetcher for a lowly dog. Here."
He tossed me a coin bag. "What? 25 gold? That's really it? I thought the agreement was three an hour, I was gone for two days."
Poe smirked. "Oops, I guess I forgot, oh well, Don't want another doctors bill do you?"
Damnit. That's right. "Whatever, What's next?"
There's a cot in the back ready for you, you may sleep there as long as you are under my service, but beware, steal from me or plant anything and I'll have your head on a silver platter."
"That's a funny expression."
"What did you say?"
"Nothing mister hand-me-down what's next?"
"I need wolf pelts for armor. Bring me back ten of them and I'll pay you good this time." He threw me a small, sleek dagger. "If they are incomplete You'll be getting me 30 more got it?"
"Those shits are heavy."
"Do I look like I care? Now get out of my sight. You make me sick."
I rolled my eyes and made my way back to the cot. There was a couple of blankets on the floor and a flat pillow as well as a storage sack. I tried to drop the necklace into there, but it disappeared and came right back into my bag. "Damnit you stupid fucking necklace." I huffed and threw down my bag, laying on the blanket and staring up at the celling. How the hell did I end up here? It makes no sense. Quest Added: Goldenrod. Get ten complete pelts for the shop keep for a hefty surprise. "Tomorrow." I rolled over, and quickly my body fell into sleep.
=======================
I woke up the bright sunlight. I groaned and turned over, letting out a yawn. I sighed, getting up and grabbing my gear. Lets get this bullshit over with.
The shop keep met me outside in his usual place. "Starting early are we?"
"Shut up barf bag I'm already doing your dirty work." I walked out before I could hear him say anything. "Where would I find wolves." I pulled out my map, a place called Runners Rock seemed like a good start. "Looks like I take the east path up into the mountains."
I put the map away and started on my next location. Passing a potion shop on the way. Making a split second choice, I took a look inside. The shop was rather small, a glass counter with jewelry glowing different colors, and behind it sat many different potions. The shelves on my side also seemed to have similar ones. The woman behind the counter was tall, light purple skin, wearing many bracelets and necklaces,. also adorning a long, gold pair of earrings. "Is there anything I can help you with traveler?" She asked, her voice dark and sleek.
"How much health potions can I get for 25 gold?"
She looked puzzled. "Is this a joke?"
"No, I need the potions so I don't die or starve to death lady."
She pointed to a row of tiny bottles. "Those are 15 gold a piece so you'll only be able to get one."
I picked one up and brought it to her, handing her the 15 gold. I took the potion without word, stuffing it in my bag and walking out. "Stupid shop clerk I swear this has to be some kind of inflation."
Dagger in hand, I made my way to Runners Rock in search for more gold.
