When the classes were over, Jungkook decided to stop by at the cafe near the university to buy Taehyung's favorite milk tea. He planned to make the other alpha talk to him today no matter what.
Even if he didn't open up his bedroom door, Jungkook would sit outside of his room and apologize properly. Namjoon was right. The way they ended things was so wrong. Even if they were to terminate the contract earlier, it should be on good terms. Jungkook should at least let Taehyung know that he didn't hate him. He owed Taehyung that much.
As Jungkook was lost in his train of thoughts, he didn't notice a pair of eyes watching intensely inside the cafe while waiting for his order. When he left the shop, he heard someone calling his name from behind.
Jungkook halted, the voice sending cold shivers through his spine. He would never forget that voice. How could he? When it had left a deep scar on his heart ever since he was a high schooler, Jungkook didn't want to deal with him right now, so he quickened his pace, wishing that person would leave him alone.
But a rough hand grabbed him from the wrist and made him turn around.
"Hello, Jungkook. Trying to act like you don't know me? I'm hurt, you know."
Lee Byung-ho, his first and only alpha boyfriend from high school, greeted him, wearing the same sinister smile.
Jungkook couldn't breathe. All the bad memories he had with Byung-ho came crashing down on him. He thought Byung-ho had moved to England for good. What was he doing here?
There were beads of sweat on his forehead as the rhythm of his beating heart got erratic, but not in a good way. Jungkook needed to get away from him before he got a panic attack.
"Let me go."
Jungkook growled, trying to free himself from Byung-ho's death grip, but it was fruitless. His ex glared at Jungkook's hostile behavior, getting annoyed at how Jungkook was trying hard to get out of his grip.
"Shut up, bitch!"
Jungkook froze upon hearing the word, unpleasant memories running through his mind.
"I see. You're still affected by that word, huh? But am I wrong? You like getting fucked by alpha though you are one yourself. Even right now, I can smell another alpha on you. You haven't changed Jungkook."
Byung-ho cackled, relishing to see how affected Jungkook was by his comment.
"Get your filthy hands off of my boyfriend!"
Everything happened so fast. One second, Byung-ho was mocking Jungkook, feeling a sense of pride to see his ex still shaking with fear in his presence. Then out of nowhere, Taehyung appeared from behind and threw a punch at the jerk.
Byung-ho stumbled and fell flat on his ass due to the impact of the punch. Driven by anger to see Jungkook in emotional pain, Taehyung grabbed Byung-ho by the collar and pulled him back on his feet.
"Don't you think it was hypocritical of you to judge Jungkook when you have a bite mark on your neck from another alpha?"
Jungkook widened his eyes at the revelation. His mind was reeling with the ghosts of the past that he failed to see the mark on Byung-ho's neck.
"I don't know what stunt you're trying to pull, but if I see you anywhere near Jungkook one more time, I'm going to make you wish you were never born in the first place."
Taehyung pushed him back on the ground and grabbed Jungkook by the hand before walking off, leaving Byung-ho seething on the floor.
