Taehyung stopped ignoring Jungkook after the incident at the cafe. They hang out like they used to, but Jungkook could feel a specific change in their dynamic.
There was an unspoken line dividing their relationship. Taehyung still hung out with him as nothing happened, but there were no more touchiness or stolen kisses behind closed doors.
They didn't even act intimate when they were on campus. Both of them resumed walking to classes together, but as they have promised, they were treating each other as nothing but friends.
Of course, people began to spread rumors like they were back together and things like that, but Jungkook decided not to care about them. He only smiled politely without commenting anything even when Namjoon asked him about them. Jungkook couldn't understand himself. He had resolved his problem with Taehyung, and they were on friendly terms now, but his heart still yearned for the other alpha.
He missed walking to class hand-in-hand with Taehyung. They went together to uni, but Taehyung never held hands with him. He also missed basking himself in the warmth of Taehyung's embrace whenever they scented. Although Taehyung was around him, he still missed the way they used to interact.
The week passed by in the blink of an eye, and without Jungkook noticing, the day for him to go to Lotte World with Namjoon had arrived. Taehyung was waiting for him that morning when he came out of the bedroom.
"Hey! I just want to wish you good luck with your date with Namjoon hyung."
Taehyung said in the form of a greeting.
"I told you it's not a date, Tae. He just wanted to hang out."
Taehyung nodded, but he didn't seem convinced. Jungkook noticed how Taehyung kept fidgeting and avoided his gaze. He also saw bags under the alpha's eyes as if he couldn't sleep last night.
All in all, Taehyung didn't look good. He seemed sad.
"Well, have fun! I know you've been waiting for this for a long time."
Taehyung said it in fake enthusiasm, and it didn't sit well with Jungkook. Something in his guts told him Taehyung was holding back to say something.
He wanted to ask Taehyung to spill it out if there was anything that he wanted Jungkook to know. But he recalled how stubborn Taehyung could be. If he didn't want to say or do something, he wouldn't budge, so Jungkook decided not to ask.
It was also time for him to leave as Namjoon would be waiting at the parking near the dorm. He said a quick 'bye' to Taehyung and left.
The drive to Lotte World amusement park was pretty peaceful. Namjoon played some chill music which wasn't Jungkook's cup of tea.
The senior asked what he would like to listen to, but Jungkook told him to play whatever he wanted. They talk a little about music on the way, and Jungkook discovered how different their preferences were.
It also reminded him of when he had a blast with Taehyung as they sang along to the radio hits on the way to Nami Island. They had so much fun back then. Jungkook didn't talk to Namjoon for the rest of the ride, his mind occupied with Taehyung and their trip.
When they reached the amusement park, Namjoon suggested going on The Flume Ride first because it was one of the rides the alpha had been excited to try. Jungkook agreed to Namjoon's wish. He didn't care what rides they got onto as soon as they could finish it quickly and return to the dorm.
Jungkook and Namjoon got onto several rides without taking any break. The older alpha enjoyed it a lot as it had been a while since he came to the amusement park because he was busy with his studies and tutoring classes.
Jungkook couldn't say the same because his mind kept drifting back to the sad look on Taehyung's face before he left the dorm that morning. Even if he was focusing on the rides they were getting onto, Jungkook kept commenting whether Taehyung would like it or despise it.
"Hyung! Let's stop by at the souvenir shop for a while. I think Taehyung might like a froggy headband. I used to call him a frog when we were in high school."
Jungkook chuckled at the fond memory. Although he called him froggy out of spite then, looking back now, it became a lovely memory. He remembered how Taehyung would glare and chased him around the school.
When Namjoon didn't reply, he looked up at the latter to see him staring at Jungkook with a bemused expression.
"Do you realize the number of times you mentioned Taehyung while we're here? I get it. You're in love. You don't need to rub it in my face who's still single."
Namjoon said teasingly. He didn't look annoyed by Jungkook's constant chatter about Taehyung. Namjoon just thought he was adorable. But, what Namjoon said as a joke made Jungkook freeze in place.
He realized he had been thinking about Taehyung ever since they arrived at Lotte World. Even back in the car, all he could think about was his trip with Taehyung.
He had completely forgotten he was at the amusement park with his long-time crush Kim Namjoon. Even right now, when he was looking at the smiling Namjoon in the eyes, he didn't feel anything.
He had been living in an illusion, convincing himself that he still had feelings for Namjoon when in reality, he had slowly fallen for Taehyung.
"I love Taehyung."
Jungkook blurted in the middle of the amusement.
"I am in love with Taehyung!"
