The Event

Ch 2: The Attack

When I get home Noah is sitting on the couch waiting for me. I ask him if he has gotten a response, "No, I'm starting to get really worried." He said. "Neither have I." I say as we are trying to figure out what happened to the boys. Then all of a sudden the power goes out and the phones lose service. We look at eachother confused. We go outside to see what is happening, I immediately think of Aubrey, she was on her way home at the time this happened. She couldnt be far. I told Noah and we both start running as fast as we could to find her. Her car was stopped at the entrance of my neighborhood, but she was not in it. I hear a scream and immediately knew it was her, I start sprinting to where I heard it from. She is laying on the ground in fear as if she saw a monster behind the 7-11 gas station, she did. I turned around and there it was, an infected, about to attack me. As it leapt towards me my brother tackles it to the ground, killing it. Who knew a 5'7 muscular 23 year old man could do that. Me and Aubrey are both paralyzed in fear. Noah asks if we are okay. "I think so, other than the fact that we are now mentally scarred." I say kind of laughing but kind of not.
