Chapter 1 - Jitters

Grian laughed as he swooped down towards the ground. His cackle rang out through the forest, letting everyone know that he was up to his usual shenanigans again. And to be grateful it wasn't them having to deal with it.
"GRIAN!" The said avian chased the Scarlet Macaw hybrid through the trees. Grian looked back onto the approaching robin hybrid and finally tossed him the item he managed to snatch. "Never do that again!" The said avian scowled at the blonde.
Grian just laughed before flying back to his home. Grian sighed softly as he landed in his treehouse. He turned to look out into the forest. A smile formed on the male's lips. He loved living in the forest.
Many avians lived here. Maybe all of them. They all lived here as this was a safe haven for the winged beings. The avians were always being hunted. For their wings to make elytras, for their beautifully colored feathers, to breed more avians. But this was a haven. A haven where avians could live without having to be afraid. Other hybrids lived here too. And they devoted themselves to help protect the avians. Such as Grian's friend, Gem. She was a deer and elf hybrid. And she vowed to help protect the forest.
Grian opened his mailbox that was nailed to the railings of the balcony. He collected the letters in there and stepped into the walls that built his home, shutting the drapes that led to the balcony he just left from. A large trunk that belonged to the tree that this house was built around stood in the middle of the foundation.
Grian hummed softly and sat at his kitchen table, opening the letters. There wasn't much. The first was from a fellow avian asking him to help design a home for some of the other hybrids. The parrot avian was well known as one of the architects in the forest. Grian set it aside to answer later and opened the second and last letter. The envelope was aqua blue and scaly like a fish. The envelope was sealed with seaweed. Grian opened it.
Grian Birb,
You are invited to the wedding of Elizabeth Shadow Delqua and Joel Smallish Beans. Or Lizzie and Joel as you know them. The wedding will take place in the middle of Mizu this following Sunday. We hope to see you there!
Sincerely,
One of Lizzie's bridesmaid,
And your wonderful, favorite older cousin,
Pearl Escent Moon
Mizu...The forest was split into many sections. Mizu was were water hybrids lived.
Grian pinned the letter to his wall and took out a piece of paper and ink. The avian reached into his ear wings and pulled out a loose feather.
. . .
The following Sunday, Grian hurried to get ready to go to the wedding. He pulled on his suit, grabbed his wedding present, and set out to Mizu.
Grian made sure to fly above the trees, not wanting to mess up his suit before swooping down onto a lily pad, large enough to hold a palace, in the middle of Mizu. He landed outside of a large building to be greeted by a young woman with long dark hair and dark eyes. Poking out of her hair, were a pair of white cat ears and a white cat tail swished behind her. She was wearing a white off-shoulder tank top and a ankle long pink skirt that had white daisies blooming out of it.
"Name?"
"Grian Birb."
The cat hybrid looked through the papers in her hand and checked off the avian's name before stepping aside to let him enter the building. At the front of the ceremony was a chest where everyone was dropping off their wedding presents. Grian dropped his present off before finding a seat. He grinned at Joel who was nervously pacing on top of a platform, fiddling with his tie.
"Hey, G!" A girl with a braided style light brown hair approached him.
"Pearl, Hi!" Grian grinned, seeing his older cousin.
"I need your help with something," she said, quickly.
"What's up?" Grian got up to follow Pearl.
"Lizzie's have pre-wedding jitters. We're trying to calm her down, but we're absolutely failing. The food isn't here yet. There's so much to do," Pearl ranted, tugging at her hair.
"One," Grian replied. "You're going to mess up your hair." Pearl sighed and crossed her arms instead. "Two. What do you want me to do?"
Pearl glanced at the clock before turning back to the smaller avain. Her feathers ruffled with panic. "We have less than ten minutes to calm down Lizzie and have the food get here. We're worried that whoever is bringing the food is lost. Can you find them?"
"I can try," Grian replied.
"Okay, please do," Pearl said, stressing out. "And when you find them, tell them to leave it in the kitchen."
Grian started towards the door. He was about to leave when he turned back. "AND CALM DOWN!"
