Dec. 2012
Flickering christmas lights, formal dresses, instruments on the stage, ports, red cups, videoke bar and excited faces. It was back then, the sophomore years. We traditionally celebrate Christmas ahead in school with our dear classmates and friends then spend the vacation with the family after. Everything was so majestic. Our names were written in the blackboard, party songs were rendered in the best playlist, friends bringing all the food. It was indeed a party to remember. I was wearing a formal attire, a suit and leather footwear preparing the performance we rehearsed with my bandmates. Jovince, Jp, Lance and I was to perform "Hallelujah" by Bamboo, a rock song then the rest with Jorlyn and Mianne, perfoming "BuKo" by Jireh Lim which was a dope love song.
The time came when we were ready to perform, the guitar intros start and everyone was pleased. I started to sing the first verse and had no idea I was not being heard, awkwardly continuing, my tone was fixed and I was accompanied by my teacher to lessen the humilating performance, but it went quite well after a minute or so. I never really felt it as we finished because even if the only audience were my well-known friends, I still feel the urge to be awkward.
The party continued, indoor games which were so fun, we had to play in the halls of the second floor just to beat the longest line, we raised our voices to play sing-a-long, we danced to every beat as music started to dominate the room. The best part, was when our stomach were filled with the grace of the fine food.
Second performance was about to begin, Mianne, wearing a white dress and with a cute necklace, called for me instructing to fix eye-to-eye contact with her when we perform to spice everything up which I ultimately agreed upon. But I really never felt it before I actually saw her singing with me. I really don't know why she told me that, but I guess it was just a gag for her so everyone will deal with it and tend to admire our song more.
The glow on her eyes and blush on her cheeks made me lose the sense of alertness when everything was about to start.
"Hey, you ready?"
"Wha...ugh. yeah! Yeah sure, I definitely am" then that's how everything started. The feeling where your heart pounds like it shouldn't be. When you see differently, you shake whenever you see her, you feel the chills when she smiles and a bonus factor when she sings. The cute lips beautifully used to convey a dope love song and a funny tingling feeling when your friends tease the both of you. Mianne made me fall. In something which I can not fully determine until it started to develop.
