you and bucky were leaving the theatre after your date.

"thanks, james! that was a great film." you say excitedly.

bucky smiles and wraps his arm around your shoulder, "i'm glad you liked it, doll."

you laugh as bucky walks with you through the streets of new york. you were on your way back to the apartment that you both shared with steve.

the two of you were chatting away when all of a sudden you felt a drop of water hit your nose.

you wiped it off and looked up at the sky with a frown, sure enough a few more drops of water start hitting your face.

"uh oh-" you say softly.

instantly, it starts pouring.

bucky pulls you to the side, under the doorway of a diner.

"are you alright?" he asks softly.

you nod, "yeah! a little water never killed anybody."

"it just came out of nowhere," he says as he looks out into the rain that's now starting to pool in the streets.

you grab his hand tightly, "don't worry, i've got ya' barnes."

you pull him out into the rain and you both run as fast as you can to the next covering before pausing under it to catch your breath.

you're caught in a fit of giggles and you're both soaked from head to toe already.

bucky's chestnut locs are sticking to his forehead and his shirt is hugging his chest. similarly, your dress is practically glued to your skin.

after your lungs caught up with your bodies, you both started running out into the rain again. quickly, you sprinted to the next safe area.

it was almost pointless since you were already drenched.

you laugh, "i don't think this is helping."

"i don't know, i think we've gotten a lot dryer if you ask me," buck quips sarcastically.

you shake your head with a grin before pausing, "wait...do you hear that?"

classical music is streaming out of the doorway of some nearby building and filling the streets.

seizing the moment, you step out into the rain daringly; on beat with the music.

bucky gasps dramatically as if it were a crime.

you sway your hips and skip along to the music, never taking your eyes off of bucky.

bucky, as if he were in a musical, swings around a light pole and stops inches from your face.

trying not to laugh, you continued to dance. bucky reaches his hand out to you and spins you around.

now you're dancing in synchronization, something the two of you were used to.

he would take you to pubs and teach you how to dance to the songs on the jukebox.

bucky twirls and kicks up rain. you run and splash water all around and for a moment, it's just the two of you.

you guys dance for blocks, even though the music eventually fades out, until you arrive at the apartments.

you're walking towards the building hand in hand, when all of a sudden bucky stops.

his abrupt pause jerks your body back in response and before you can say anything, he turns you around to face him and kisses you.

his hands reach your waist and yours are pressed against his chest as you stand on your tiptoes to meet his lips.

when you pull away, you see the rain drops adorning his eyelashes and quickly pull him inside while laughing.

you both race through the lobby and to the elevator. just when you are about to reach the button to press it, bucky lifts you up off your feet and carries you bridal style before pushing it himself.

"cheat," you chide.

bucky shrugs with a smirk as the elevator doors close.

he sets you down and you rest your head on his shoulder with one thought, "this is where I want to be."
