A/N: Warning for slightly mature themes
The sound of my ringtone snaps me awake from my deep blackout sleep. I raise my head in a quick motion, immediately regretting it. A whirling sensation among with a stinging pain torments the insides of my skull. I drop my head with a pathetic sounding whimper, avoiding making any movements for now. The phone's loudness keeps irritating me, but I don't have the strength to reach for it. I decide not to answer.
The phone goes silent, finally. I lay on my stomach, waiting to drift back to sleep, when my nose suddenly picks up a smell that I can only describe as disgusting. A frown appears to decorate my forehead as I carefully turn my head to locate the source of the smell. I don't have to look far. The smell comes from me. I'm still wearing the clothes from last night.
Right, I got beer thrown at me, that's where the stench comes from. Gross... but luckily it's just beer, it could be worse...
I squint, trying to recall what made me think it was a good idea to sleep in smelly, wet clothes. Hazy memories comes back to me. The cab brought me back home from the bar, that I remember, and I somehow managed to stroll inside my apartment without damaging myself. I simply kicked my shoes off and wobbled straight to bed. I didn't even bother to get under my blankets, I just crashed on this very same spot and my lights went out.
Awesome job, (Name), I scold myself. Now I can't spend this day by just suffering in silence, but I have to do laundry and change my beddings as well to get rid of this piss-like smell, yay.
The phone starts ringing again.
"For fucks sake..." I push myself closer the edge and reach my arm towards the floor. I sink my hand in my purse, trying to feel the phone from the bottom of all the useless crap I store in there. I grab the phone, and bring the sucker up to my face to finally see who dares to bother me so goddamn early.
It's Hanji. This can't be good.
"Mmh?" I moan on the phone.
"Heyyy!" Hanji's loud voice feels like a stab in the ear.
"Nngh, hi..." I mumble with my face down.
"Hangover?" Hanji makes a lucky guess.
"It feels like something's about to hatch through my skull." I describe my possibly upcoming cause of death.
"Aww, that sucks, really... Listen, um, I'm sorry to call you, but I didn't know what else to do."
I suddenly feel very suspicious about the way she sounds restless. "What do you want?"
"You know, I just came to work. I bumped into Erwin as soon as I got here and he was acting really busy and tense. He asked me to make some phone calls for him, so he can focus on getting everything ready for the day and -"
