Before the explosion in Ebraur, near the Black Forest.

People were running frantically through the streets, carrying only the essentials. Some fled with just the clothes on their backs. It should have been dark already, but high above, a sphere radiated as if it were the sun itself.

A man covered in a cloak didn't seem to be in panic. He opened a door of a small house and closed it after entering.

"Darling, did you succeed?" asked the blonde-haired woman, holding a baby in her arms. When she tried to get up from the chair, she was stopped by the man, who helped her sit gently.

"No," he replied.

"What are we going to do? The ritual will end soon, and we'll end up dying here."

The man's black eyes met the woman and the child. He couldn't bring himself to answer, helped her stand, and they climbed the stairs to the bedrooms. Sensing his distress, she remained silent.

"I know what you're thinking," the woman spoke with the calmest voice she could muster as they entered the room with a crib.

"I wanted to find another way, my love..."

"Okay, if it's the only way for her to survive."

He smiled and turned to her, giving her a kiss accompanied by a hug.

"I'm sorry."

A deafening sound echoed through the city's sky, and they heard the screams of agony, a chorus from the abyss.

"Are you ready?"

"Yes!"

The man made a triangle with his hands and recited a mantra in an ancient language. A blue triangle formed on the floor, enclosing the three of them.

The baby started crying; her mother looked at her snow-white face, full of freckles, and adjusted a strand of her red hair. Tears dripped onto the little girl.

"I LOVE YOU!" the man shouted before the explosion swept through the city.

A few minutes later, everything fell into complete silence.

Haniball stood before his two friends, holding a baby with vibrant red hair and eyes as black as a moonless night.

"It's unbelievable that she survived," expressed Lizard.

"Master Wolf, we found no sign of anything alive since we arrived here. You saw the explosion, and we know the Ithy present here is malevolent," Cobra said in a concerned tone.

"I remember the teachings of old Bunky," recalled Haniball. "The Ithy is the energy that governs the universe, inhabiting all things, all beings, and blah, blah, blah," he finished with a crude imitation of his mentor.

As soon as he finished speaking, a small point of light rose to a certain height, enough for the three to see it from the window where they were.

"We must leave immediately," warned Lizard.
