As Maya stepped off the shuttle bus and into the hotel lobby, the cool air-conditioning hit her face, providing a brief respite from the sweltering Palawan heat. She looked around, taking in the sleek, modern decor of the hotel lobby. It was a far cry from the rustic island she had expected.

Her attention was drawn to the front desk, where the same man from the plane was standing, filling out paperwork. It seemed like fate had brought them together again.

She took a deep breath and approached him cautiously. "Hi," she said, trying to sound casual. "What are you doing here?"

The man looked up, his expression stony. "What does it look like I'm doing?" he snapped, gesturing to the receptionist.

Maya winced, taken aback by his harsh tone. "I'm sorry," she said, trying to diffuse the tension. "I just meant..."

"You just meant what?" he interrupted, his voice rising. "That you're following me around or something?"

Maya felt her cheeks flush, a mixture of embarrassment and anger. "No, I didn't know you were staying here," she said, trying to keep her voice steady. "It's just a coincidence."

The man snorted in disbelief. "Yeah, right," he said, rolling his eyes.

The receptionist, sensing the tension, stepped in to try and lighten the mood. "I apologize for any confusion," she said with a reassuring smile. "It seems that there has been an error in the bookings and you will be sharing a room. I can assure you that the hotel staff will do everything we can to make your stay comfortable."

The man glared at the receptionist, clearly unhappy with the situation. "What kind of hotel makes a mistake like this?" he growled, turning back to the girl.

Maya felt her cheeks flush with embarrassment. She had hoped for a more positive reaction, but she knew she had to be honest. "I didn't know you were staying here," she said, trying to keep her voice steady. "It's just a coincidence."

The man snorted in disbelief. "Yeah, right," he said, rolling his eyes.

The receptionist, who had been watching their exchange with interest, tried to diffuse the tension once again. "Well, I'm sure it will all work out," she said with a forced smile. "In the meantime, let me show you to your room."

As they made their way up to the room, Maya couldn't help but feel nervous. She had been looking forward to this trip for so long, and now it seemed like it was going to be a disaster. But she couldn't deny that there was something about this man that intrigued her, even if he seemed to dislike her so much.

The hotel room was spacious and luxurious, with a king-sized bed, a flat-screen TV, and a balcony that looked out over the beach. But the girl couldn't enjoy it with the man sitting there, radiating anger.

"This is ridiculous," the man muttered, throwing his bag on the bed. "I can't believe we have to share a room."

Maya sighed, feeling the weight of the situation settling on her. She didn't know what to say or do to make things better. All she could do was hope that they could find a way to coexist peacefully for the next few days.

She turned around to see the man standing in the doorway, his arms crossed over his chest. "This is ridiculous," he said, his voice gruff.

Maya bristled at his dismissive tone. "What's ridiculous?" she asked, her tone challenging.

"This whole situation," he replied, gesturing around the room. "Us being forced to share a room like we're some kind of couple."

Maya felt her face heat up, both from anger and embarrassment. "I didn't choose this," she said, her voice rising. "And it's not like I'm thrilled about it either."

The man seemed taken aback by her outburst, and for a moment, they just stood there in silence, glaring at each other.

Finally, Maya spoke up. "Look, I know this isn't ideal," she said, her tone softer now. "But we're stuck here for the next few days, so we might as well try to make the best of it, right?"

The man looked at her for a long moment, his expression inscrutable. Then, to her surprise, he let out a small chuckle. "I guess you're right," he said, a hint of a smile playing at the corners of his lips.

Maya felt a surge of relief. Maybe there was hope for them yet.

The girl couldn't help but giggle as they entered the hotel room, and her eyes sparkled in excitement as she took in the romantic atmosphere. The candle lights flickered gently, casting a warm glow over the room. There were rose petals scattered across the bed and the floor, and a bottle of champagne chilling in a bucket of ice.

The man looked around the room, his eyes widening in disbelief. "What the hell is this?" he muttered under his breath.

The girl giggled. "Well, someone went all out to make this special," she said, playfully teasing him.

"What are you talking about?" the man asked, clearly confused.

"Well, the candles, the roses, the champagne," the girl said, gesturing to the various romantic elements of the room. "It's all so... thoughtful."

The man's eyes narrowed. "I didn't do this," he said, his voice rising slightly.

The girl's smile faltered for a moment, but she quickly composed herself. "Oh, really? Well, it's still a nice surprise," she said, her voice bright and cheery.

The man looked at her skeptically. "Are you okay with this?"

"Of course! Why wouldn't I be?" the girl replied, her voice still cheerful. "Let's just enjoy the moment."

As they settled into the bed, Maya couldn't help but feel a sense of deja vu. It was like she had done this all before, but with a different outcome. She thought back to the night her ex-fiance proposed to her at the restaurant downstairs. She had thought the surprise was over after the proposal, but when she opened the door to their hotel room, she was greeted with rose petals on the floor and bed, candle lights, and champagne. It had been a magical night, and Maya couldn't help but wonder if this unexpected surprise with the man beside her could be just as special. She made a decision to let go of any expectations and just be present in the moment, enjoying this unexpected twist of fate.
