when dream talks in his sleep, it's usually about one of four things: minecraft, patches, work – or george. :)

Whenever George hears Dream talk in his sleep, it feels like he's being let in on a secret.
In the dark of their bedroom; Dream's soft mumbles into the pillows or the nape of George's neck. He rarely makes any sense, but that's not what matters.
Not to George, anyway.
What matters is that he gets to hear it at all – that Dream trusts him enough to be vulnerable around him.
Usually, the things he says are completely unintelligible, and spoken so quietly George barely catches them at all. Dream's Dreams seem to mostly revolve around his real life, so the few times he says something coherent it's usually about one of four things:
Minecraft, Patches, work – or George.
It's a little funny and a lot adorable that even in his sleep, George's name is the word Dream says the most.
Although george doesn't doubt that his own sleep-talking probably consists of much of the same.
Dream's is never so loud it wakes George up, meaning he only ever hears it if Dream has fallen asleep before him. Something that ends up happening more often than not.
Every night, George gets a sleepy, clingy Dream attached to his side who will follow him around like a puppy until it's bedtime.
Dream is almost always more tired than George is, and once they're settled in bed, he can doze off in George's neck in a matter of minutes.
Tonight has been one of those nights.
Dream is fast asleep behind george with his arms wrapped snugly around his middle. Still awake, George is busy scrolling through the things he's missed on Twitter, while tracing hearts on Dream's forearm that's draped over his chest.
It doesn't surprise him when Dream's voice fills the quiet.
"George," he mumbles, soft with sleep.
George turns his head slightly toward him, away from his phone. "Mm?"
No response comes, which confirms George's early suspicions that Dream is still very much asleep.
He brings a gentle hand up to pet Dream's cheek, letting his fingers card through his curls. "What is it, baby?"
It feels a little silly to ask, but he tries anyway, in love with the sound of his boyfriend's voice when it's like this and yearning to hear more of it
Dream stirs against him, tightening his arms around George's middle, and settling a familiar warm hand on George's bare stomach.
"Love you," comes his quiet answer, mumbled and yet entirely recognizable.
George smiles and brushes his thumb over the freckles on Dream's cheeks. The ones he knows are there even when the dark is hiding them.
"You love me?"
Dream nods slowly. "Mm, love."
"I love you, too," George reassures him, even though Dream is asleep and definitely won't remember it in the morning.
That doesn't matter, though – what matters is that he hears it now and that he knows it's true.
And Dream seems to be content with it as he instantly sinks back into George's side, letting out a soft sigh of approval.
