"Hey Dream," George says, breaking their comfortable silence
Dream hums from his place in George's lap, his eyes shut in contentment from a mix of being sleepy and the comforting feeling of George's fingers running through his freshly washed curls.
"Did you see this?"
Dream's eyes flutter open and he is met with George's phone screen only a few inches from his face, showing George's own TikTok account.
He watches george click on his most recent post, the one with photos of him and Dream as kids with the SZA song in the background.
A smile makes its way to Dream's lips as he remembers the video. "Yeah, I saw."
George giggles and pulls his phone back. "Well, what did you think?"
Dream knew he was going to ask that, always so eager to get Dream's approval even though he already knows the answer.
"It's cute," Dream says honestly, turning his head so he can look up at him. His cheek ends up in George's palm, and Dream can't resist the urge to press his lips to soft skin.
"We're pretty cute together," he adds, making George smile.
It's his 'Dream smile', the one where he tilts his head slightly to the side and his cheeks glow a little pink.
George smooths his thumb over Dream's eyebrow before he settles it on the soft skin by his eye.
He's doing that thing where he's just staring fondly at him without saying anything, and Dream can't help but grow a little flustered.
"What?" he asks, a little hesitant but still smiling.
George shrugs. "Nothing I just... you think I'm cute?"
Dream is already shaking his head by the time George finishes his sentence, much to George's amusement.
– Dream definitely should have seen that coming.
"You're an idiot," he says, but his voice is dipped in honey; so sweet it could make his teeth hurt.
"No, I'm not," George says triumphantly. "I'm cute. You just said so."
"That's literally not at all what I said," Dream laughs, a happy warmth spreading in his chest.
"I said we're cute," he continues, adding, "Together."
George smiles and lets out an obnoxious sigh. "So," he pauses, and Dream already knows he's about to say something completely ludicrous.
"We're both cute, is what you're saying. But if you had to actually tell the truth, you think I'm the cutest."
Yep – there it is.
Dream shakes his head at him again, trying and failing to suppress both his smile and the warmth darkening on his cheeks.
"You're an idiot."
George laughs and places his hand back in Dream's hair, running his fingers through it lovingly. "Yeah, okay Dream."
