You know the ones, when you can't find anything interesting to do but you can't think of anything either. No homework to do, no T.V. shows to watch, just sitting and waiting. Waiting for anything, really.
I had been browsing channels for a while. Skipping around, just seeing what all the other bored people are up to.
"Breaking news, girl found dead at local skating center. Identity and cause unknown."
The sentence blared out of my T.V., catching my attention.
For some reason, those words felt more important than anything I'd ever heard before.
And yet, I don't know what they mean.

The next day, I walked to school. I don't know why I did, I hate walking. But it just felt right. Like something I needed to do. Normally I'd ride with my older sister, Tasha, but not today.
Usually, the school was a whirlwind of activity. Bustling with excitement and talkative students, but it was quiet today. It felt empty.
Micheal, my best friend since sixth grade, came up to me.
"Hey man, have you heard?" He said, his voice barely above a whisper.
I was lost. Micheal had always been soft spoken but he was never once this quiet. Something was wrong. Something was very wrong.
"Heard about what?" I asked, confused and slightly scared as to what I might hear.
Micheal brushed his shaggy brown hair out of his eyes, and looked down at his feet for a moment.
