And then a small little voice in the back of my head says, "Nothing."

I finished school that day with a hole in my heart and a need for answers.

I had to know who did it.

And above all, why.

I looked up from my phone and sighed. My bedroom was a mess, clothes strewn across the floor, and a few piles of notebooks and other assorted items thrown in the corners.

I stood up, getting off my bed. I couldn't just sit there any longer. I needed to do something and I needed to do it now.

I grabbed my black jacket and put on my sneakers.

I had to figure this out.

Someone had to.

Screams pierced the air.

Sirens wailed.

And the distinct smell of blood filled the room.

"I wish things could've been different." A voice said weakly, quivering and small.

"I think you deserve this more than anyone." Another said, with no hint of kindness.

The diner was empty.

I mean, other than the workers. They're working, so it can't exactly be empty.

Kinda weird how people say that.

Maybe I'm missing the point.

Anyway, the diner had no one but the workers in it. The faint sound of cooking appliances in the background and coffee being poured.

She was murdered at the skating rink.

But I sincerely doubt the police will let me in. I'll have to investigate elsewhere.

Where was she seen before the murder?

I pulled out my phone and began my search for answers.
