"Uhhh, Alex? Could you help me with my history essay?" Kate called from her table, as the two sisters did their essays together. "Yeah, whatcha need?" She got up, leaning onto Kate's chair. Suddenly, her phone rang. She picked it up, answering. "Yes, my female mother figure?" She sassily answered, relaxing further onto the hold of the chair. "Girls, turn on the news. Also, we're going on a trip in a few days, so prepare. But the news are more urgent." With that, Eleanor hung up.
Alex noticed that she had been acting differently these last few months, more hetic, and she was more tired, and always on some trips. "Uhhh, ok." she mumbled to herself, "Colby, turn on the news please." The AI did as told, a city- Novi Grad in Sokovia as they reported- was the battleground between an rouge AI murderbot and the Avengers.
While Kate focused on trying to spot Hawkeye, something, or rather someone else caught her eye. There was a blur of silver and blue running around. She recalled the file she read last summer, could this be that Project?
"Hello ladies and gentlemen, this is Emily Higgins reporting live from above the battle. We have been told by several sources that the city has been evacuated prior to this carnage, and the US embassies all over Europe are encouraging people to take in their relatives, if they have them."
The two girls pushed away any toughts of homework they had, focusing only on the report. "Uh, we just heard a massive gunfire southeast of the main square, where the archer Hawkeye was last seen." Alex heard Kate gasp beside her, and she grabbed her hand for support, the girl squeezing back in thanks.
"Oh, ok. It appears that three people made it safely out of that direction, including Hawkeye and Quicksilver. Who came up with that name?" The woman looked at her cameraman, and the camera moved, suggesting he shrugged.
"Woah, James, are you getting that?" The camera moved to the door, seeing Novi Grad falling down. "The city is falling back into the crater- Ooh, Iron Man called forward some of the Ultron bots, and with the help of who seems to be Thor and the girl with those red powers, he's slowing down the fall! Incredible!"
Alex didn't even notice that she got up and had started pacing around the room. She only realized when Kate stared at her, mouth agape.
"Alex- You-" Alex looked down, seeing nothing strange at first. "I wha- WOAH." Just then, she realized that her feet were moving hyperfast, "What the fuck, how do I stop thi-" A pillow hit her in the face, the unexpected object knocking her down on her ass.
"Ow what the fuck Richard." Kate got up, gesturing with her hands, "WHAT WAS THAT?" Alex got up, "I DON'T FUCKING KNOW?!" Kate sat down on her bed, putting her elbows on her knees and her head in her hands, "What the actual fuck is going on?"
They stood around, watching as the Avengers managed to slow down the man-made meteorite, salvaging what was left of the city, and beating Ultron. Kate turned off the TV, turining to Alex. "Do it again." Alex nodded, trying to do it.
"I, uh, I can't do it on command." Kate sighed, "Jeez, dude, you have powers!" Alex nodded, looking down at her hands, "Guess I do." Kate pulled her out of the room, "C'mon, we'll go figure it out with some Mac and Cheese."
"I love Mac and Cheese."
"Of course you do."
