After returning to New York, it was clear they wouldn't be staying long enough to lounge around. Kate had every sport known to man under her belt, while Eleanor was even busier with the Bishop Security job.
Alex, however, was just cruising around as smoothly as possible. She already knew Spanish, Italian, Russian and German, so she didn't have major anxiety like other kids when the Spanish exams would roll around.
She had done a psych eval a few months prior to her powers activating, and the eval came out as a pretty damn good result, her head was not clouded at all, her IQ measuring at 130, which did explain a lot of things about her, actually.
Now, she was beyond the normal 13 year old, as she was pushed straight into high school, because her teachers all the way back said that Lucas and Alex stood out from the rest. Lucas always shrugged it off as, "My mom's entire family is like that."
And it was true, he introduced her to his first cousin from his mother's side, Miles Morales. Yes, that Miles Morales. And it really was true, as Miles excelled in things his classmates didn't even grasp.
But as of right now, the Bishop sisters were preparing for a trip to Alexandria, Egypt. "Please, don't show off when we land." Kate suddenly said, as Alex looked over at the girl who was stuffing t-shirts into the duffel bag at a rapid speed.
"Why would I?" She asked, putting her toothbrush and toothpaste into a small plastic bag, in case the paste decides to break free of it's containment. "Cause... Y'know, Alexandria is your name?" Alex looked up, deadpanning at the girl, "And you don't see me comparing you to the Queen or Emily Dickinson, do you?"
At the mention of the latter, Kate paled a bit. Not too much to be concerned, but enough to be noticed by someone. "Kate?" Kate looked down at her hands as she fiddled with her fingers, "I have to tell you something."
Alex leant against the table with one hand, the other propped up on her hip, "What, you're a reincarnation of Emily?", she sassed, her voice dropping into a joking tone. At the other girl's silence, Alex stood up straight. "No way." Kate nodded, "Yes way, I think."
Alex started pacing, grabbing at her head, "That's simply not true, you're like the least poetic person I know." She turned around just in time to get hit in the face with a stuffed animal. "Ouch. Rude." Kate rolled her eyes, "Admit, you're just jealous that I know who I was and you don't."
Alex threw a pair of socks at her head, "Yeah, yeah, keep telling yourself that, Elizabeth." Kate laughed at the comment, as they finished packing, and in a few hours, they were airborne on their way to Egypt.
Once they landed, Eleanor bid them goodbye and allowed them to roam around, as long as their bodyguard, Carter, would be near. They were 13 after all, and in a foreign country. "Uh, listen, I'm going for a run." Alex announced, while Carter and Kate were watching National Geographic intently.
Carter spoke up, "Do I need to go with you or?" Alex shook her head, "Nah, I got it, don't worry. Make sure she doesn't choke on that ice cream." She said, pointing at Kate who was stuffing her face with caramel ice cream.
"Fuffk ffou.", Kate said before swallowing the cold food, "Don't trip over a lion, idiot." Alex flipped her off as she exited the apartment, hearing Carter laugh before she went out of earshot.
She looked around, the streets were full of people, so she went around the back, and she took off. In the past two months, she had gotten a good grip on her powers, and she felt like time froze around her while she ran, but to her it was normal speed.
She ran until she felt slightly pushed back by something, thinking it was a construct of her mind, so she pushed faster and faster until she didn't feel that anymore, finding herself on the grassy ground.
