*Graykit's Point of View*  (Sparklekit will have the next chapter)

I pushed through the camp entrance, wanting nothing more than to sleep.

Gracestep and Graywhisker immediately rushed over to me.

"Graykit! Oh thank Starclan you're okay! Where were you? What happened?" Gracestep exclaimed, licking me like crazy. Why do mothers do that? It's not like I'm dirty. I thought in irritation. "Skyclan. I was in Skyclan. The eagle took me to its eagle-peepers and one bit my tail. But I escaped." I went on to tell them what had happened.

The medicine cat, Ferncreek, approached us. "Graykit, I'd like you to come with me to my den, please." she requested.

"Why? I just want to sleep." I pouted.

"Well, I need to check your wounds! You don't wish to die from infection, do you?" she reasoned.

I decided to be difficult. "That sounds nice, actually." I said, looking up at the torbie.

The medicine cat let out an exasperated sound. "It's not nice. Trust me, I don't recommend it. Very unpleasent. Anyways, just come to my den. You can sleep after I check you out."

I knew that I wouldn't win this arguement. Therefore, I begrudgingly followed her to the medicine den.

"Okay, those marks from the eagle's talons aren't that deep. They should heal quickly enough. That bite on your tail though. . ." her voice trailed off and Ferncreek glanced away.

I stepped forward, confused. "What about it? Will I lose my tail?" I asked, horrified.

"No no." Ferncreel replied quickly. "The eagle-peeper only bit the tip. However, it is pretty bad. You may lose a tiny bit, but that's not likely." she preceeded to treat my wounds, which stung heavily.

"Alright. I'm done. You may sleep now." Ferncreek stepped back and looked at me before nodding. I smiled and raced out of the den and to the nursery. You know what? That was among the best naps I've ever had.

************************

Excitement pulsed through me. I sat in the clearing, my pelt shining in the early morning sun. I bet you know what was going on.

"I have called you together for one of the most important moments in the life of a clan. Graykit has reached his sixth moon, and it's time for him to become     an apprentice. Graykit, from this day until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Whisperpaw. Starclan, I ask you to guide this new apprentice. Ser his paws on the path he must follow to become a warrior." Goldenstar, our leader, declared.

My eyes wide, I stared up at her. "Whisperpaw? But my name was Graykit! Shouldn't I be Graypaw?" I objected. I wasn't supposed to get a new name! I was supposed to become an apprentice!

Goldenstar looked down at me. "It can be, but I'm leader. Therefor I can change your name. Why, many years before now, Heatherstar changed a kit call Hopkit to Deadkit. You know who he became? The famous, remembered, Deadfoot. You are quiet, therefore I will change your name." she stated like it was the most normal thing in thee world. Well guess what? It wasn't! To this day I wonder what my name would've been if it'd stayed Graykit.

Goldenstar then went on. "Stormrunner, you will mentor to Whisperpaw. You are quick to respond, a good fighter, and agile. I know you will pass these on to Whisperpaw."

Stormrunner padded up to me and touched his nose to mine. Great Starclan, he reeked! He smelled of fish, murky water, and-and. . .Okay, I think you get it.

I shook out my pelt and looked around. What was I supposed to do?

"Come on, Whisperpaw. I'll show you the territory." Stormrunner said in his very, very deep voice.

I followed him out of camp, dispising my new name.

~Sorry that it's so short. . . I'll try to make the next chapter longer. I just wanted to get this one done 'cause you guys deserve it. :) Thank you all so much for everything.
Fly on,
Alla
