*Graykit's Point of View.*I ducked and ran around the eagle-peepers. One of them managed to bit my tail, however, and tugged me back toward them.
I hate eagle-peepers. I thought grumpily. Pain throbbing in my tail, I clawed one of the eagle-peepers. It squealed and hopped back. I took this moment to run towards the edge of the nest. I dared to look over my shoulder and saw the biggest of the peepers chasing me.
Terror rushed through me when I saw that peeper. I leaped over the edge of the nest, landing heavily on the tree. I raced down it to the main trunk, the eagle-peeper's footsteps fading behind me.
Suddenly, I felt soft moss under my paws. Relief rushed over me in a wave. I was free.
Something was off, however. The scent that hung in the area was different somehow. . . Unfamiliar. Not like Riverclan. How far had that eagle taken me?
Rustling in the bushes behind made me spin around in alarm. Before I knew what was happening, I was pinned down. "Hey! Let me go, you heap of fishguts!" I yowled.
"It's a kit!" a she-cat's voice exclaimed.
"I know it's a kit." a tom's voice retorted. "But what do we do with it?"
"Maybe we kill it! Yeah, it isn't good enough to be on our territory." this one sounded like a young tom's. An apprentice.
"Of course not, Fuzzypaw! I am surprised at you! The code says that we are to help any kit, no matter what its clan is." the tom said.
I looked around wildly. The apprentice was a brown, the tom was light brown, and the she-cat was white with yellow stripes.
"Kit? What's your name? What are you doing here? Wh--- You're injured!" the she-cat asked gently, her voice raising in alarm when she saw my injuries, which I'd forgotten about.
"Erm, Graykit. An eagle carried me off. My injuries are from the eagle's talons and an eagle-peeper bit my tail." I grumbled.
"I'm Yellowlight, this is my apprentice, Fuzzypaw, and that's Skyclan's deputy, Deerstep. You smell of Riverclan. The eagle must've taken you far. Our camp is closer than Riverclan's. We'll take you there." the she-cat explained.
"Yellowlight!" Fuzzypaw hissed, taking a step closer to Yellowlight. "Why would we take in such a pathic kitto!"
Deerstep turned to the apprentice. "Fuzzypaw, be nice! He obviously isn't pathic if he escaped eagles.Yellowlight, carry him back to camp. I'll give Fuzzypaw a talking-to." he ordered.
The she-cat nodded and gently picked me up. She turned in what I guess was the direction of Skyclan's camp and ran off. I gaped in alarm as I swung around, being bumped against stuff.
I squeezed my eyes shut, upset by all of this.
Yellowlight skidded to a halt so I opened them again. The Skyclan camp was pretty cool, I had to admit.
A gray and white she-cat padded up to us and sniffed me, wrinkling her nose. "Yellowlight, what's this?"
Yellowlight set me down and faced the she-cat. "He's a kit, Lilystar. His name is Graykit." she replied evenly.
"Yes, yes. Now why is Raykit here, in OUR camp?" Lilystar snarled.
"Graykit, actually. He's here because Deerstep told me to bring him back. An eagle took him from Riverclan and gave him to its eagle-peepers. He escaped, but injured so I took him here. Lilystar, we have to help him!" Yellowlight pleaded.
"No! He's a Riverclan cat, not of Skyclan. And I doubt that his story is true." Lilystar growled. She turned her head back. "Spottedsky, I want you to take this kit off of our territory and leave him."
A calico she-cat bounded up to Lilystar and dipped her head. She picked me up and padded out of camp.
"Lilystar, you can't do this! The warrior code says to help kits no matter what clan they come from!" I heard Yellowlight yowl as Spottedsky carried me away. The leader's response was inaudible, though.
I decided to sleep for a while, dreading what would happen when this cat left me.

I woke up to being set down. Looking up, I saw Spottedsky looking down at me intently. "Look, this tunnel leads to Riverclan. Go through it."
"What? You aren't obeying her?" I asked, confused.
"She only told me to leave you off of our territory. She never said that I couldn't help you."
I gaped for a moment before replying, "Thanks."
She nudged me towards the tunnel. "You're welcome. Now go! It's perfectly safe, I like to explore these tunnels sometimes. Whenever you come across a fork in the path, turn left and you'll find yourself in Riverclan territory."
I licked her cheek gently before rushing down the burrow, wind rustling my whiskers. "Farewell, Graykit!" Spottedsky called to me.
"Bye! Thank you so much for this!" I called back, wondering how she'd known my name if I'd never given it to her.
And then something dawned on me.
I'd seen her before.
