Dark. Darkness. That was the only thing Jessie could see. It felt as if she was still asleep, even though she was sure she was awake. Did she wake up in the middle of the night? That's not like her. She always woke up after the sun rose. Was it because of the graduation party the night before? It couldn't be. It's true that she got drunk more than ever but she was feeling well when going to bed. Was she seeing things? Was she hallucinating? Was she really there? No, it can't be. It just can't.

A soft light appeared from a light bulb nearby. The room was revealed. It was a living room with a kitchen connected to it. It seemed like a nice apartment except of the weird smell, windows covered with wood, webs in every corner and the fact it was abandoned for over a decade. Jessie noticed 3 other rooms which had their doors opened. One was the bathroom, that's probably where the smell was coming from. The other room was a bedroom. There was only a double bed in the middle of the room. It the last room, there was darkness.

Jessie almost let out a gag before she heard something behind her. It sounded like electricity. She turned her head around. She saw the green sofa she was sleeping on and a fireplace above which was something that looked like a yearbook page that has been torn out. And in the corner, she saw the source of the noise. An ancient TV on a small wooden table. It had its screen on, but nothing was playing. I was just the glitching-noise.

She stood up and walked to the TV. As she was passing the fireplace, the photos in the frames had caught her eye. It wasn't a family picture. There were 12 black and white photos of people she didn't know. But one person caught her eye. A person with light, long and straight hair. The person looked so familiar... Her! It was her! She was on that picture! But why? And how?

"Hello?" Someone said from the distance.
Jessie jumped. A person was looking right at her.
"Who are you?" Jessie looked at the person who had fear in his eyes. She noticed how he tried to hide it before she looked at the picture again. Short messy light-brown hair, and a hoodie. He was on that picture too.
Jessie didn't say anything. Not that she was too surprised to speak, but the fact that the two of them were on that photo.

Then more people appeared. And all of them were on that picture. A girl with black wavy hair? She was there. A boy with a red beanie and curly brown hair? He was there too. Everyone who was on that photo was there. Two girls that looked very similar looked scared the most. They were hugging for dear life it seemed.

There were 10 people on that photo, but there were 9 of them in the room. Someone was missing. As others became to talk to each other, Jessie figured out the one who wasn't there. A girl with black hair in a ponytail. She was also at the graduation party the night before and she was the only person who she knew at least a bit, so she decided to look for her. She peeked into the bathroom but immediately regretted it because of the smell.

She investigated the bedroom which was really dark. Her stomach wasn't feeling well. And she didn't want to make it worse. There was a bed in the middle on the room. Otherwise, it was surrounded by darkness. But before she almost moved on, something moved in the dark. She almost let out a scream before the figure began to move towards her. She began to back up, but the figure was really fast.

"Hello?" she said with a frightened voice. She was pretty sure it was the girl she was looking for, but she was still scared. As the shadow came closer, she didn't move away as she would've normally. Instead, she stood with confidence, or at least trying to.

"Aw man you're here too!" The person said in a familiar voice. Now, Jessie could see her whole face. It was her. It was the weird girl from the graduation party.

"Huh?!" Jessie couldn't hide the surprise. She looked into her eyes. They were darker than the darkness she was in a minute ago. Those black eyes.

"Jessie, right?" the girl stopped in the door frame.

"Yeah?"

"I'm sorry for you being here" the girl said and left the room.

"What?" Jessie was now confused that ever. The girl for sure had answers but she didn't seem like she was going to give it to her. But she left the dark room anyway.

"Welcome to flicker" a strange voice began talking. Everyone went quiet and looked up.

"In this game, there is a Good and Evil team. Some of you have abilities you can use when the lights go off. Your diary which you have in your pocket will tell you more about your role."

Jessie searched her pockets to find her diary. And she did find a small notebook with the word on it.

"When the lights are back on, you will have to eliminate one person."

"Collect information and get rid of the other side."

"Good luck!"

Jessie opened the notebook to find a lot of text. Apparently, her role was detective and she would get clues about who's evil and who's good. And just as she closed the diary, the lights flickered, before they completely went off.
