Secret in the shadows ( the lost Boys )

Wake up

The boys made it home just before sunrise. David sat in his chair and grabbed the pink cup from Marko asking Dawyne to sit Maddie in front of him. Dwayne lied his sister on David's chest, David shook the girl awake lightly and whispered in her ear until she opened her bright blue eyes slowly. She glanced up at Marko before turning her head toward David. " I need you to drink this sister", she looked at the cup knowing what was inside she started to tear up. 

She didn't want to be a vampire yet, she wanted to wait. " you said I could wait" she whispered. David looked over at Paul for help. Paul moved closer to the young girl, " we know sis, but it's going to help you. You can be just like Laddie all big and strong". She shook her head as more tears streamed down her face. " You promised" Dwayne let out a small groan, he wasn't frustrated at the young girl, he knew she would be upset but he didn't think she would hit them with that.  They were just trying to help her. David's gaze on her softened at the cracking of her voice, this was going to be hard. " Look Maddie this is going to help you feel better okay?". She slowly nodded her head and took the pink cup from her older brother's hand. She had to stop a couple of times because of the taste, Marko lied this does not taste like strawberries she thought. Paul gently picked her up and sat her in his lap tilting the cup to her lips like he had done so many times before when she was an infant. Once she was finished she had fallen asleep on him, holding her close to his chest trying to sooth his aching dead heart. He didn't want this for her she was way to young, she hasn't gotten to experience life at the fullest growing up and learning new things. But those Surf Nazi's took that away from her. Marko was mind linking ideas of torture to the other boys, them agreeing with certain ones they liked best. 

David was furious with Star. She had one job tonight and it was to watch the two children. Star walked into the cave in a panic but calmed enough when she saw Laddie asleep on Dwayne holding Maddie's hand as she slept on Paul. " where have you been Star" David seethed as he looked into the distraught eyes of the women. " I was walking around the boardwalk waiting for them to meet me at the candy store. What happened? Is she alright?" Marko stood up aggressively " oh she's just fine now Star" he replied with a bitter tone. 

DAVID'S POV 

If you were wanting to know some Surf Nazi's caused a fight and she was pushed off the ride. What were you thinking leaving them by themselves. I was so aggravated. Star flinched at the sound of my voice, " I thought they would be okay, how was I supposed to know a fight would happen". You weren't supposed to know Star, but I except you to watch them and get them out of there when things like that happen. Now Maddie is a full vampire so she's going to be  a little kid forever. I was so loud I had woken up Laddie. Star I suggest you get to bed you have a long day tomorrow.

The boys gathered up the small children and moved them to bed. Laddie in his bed with a dinosaur comforter that Paul had found and given to Max to wash it for the young boy Pulling his black drapes to get as little sunlight as possible. The boys made their way to the back of the cave where they slept, Paul lied his sister on her bed pulling her purple comforter around her small body. Dwayne got into her bed and moved her to where the good side of her head was laying on his chest with one of her arms draped across his stomach. She looked so peaceful but he knew how much pain she was in. Max had to stich her head because the gash was so large, they would take the wrap off tomorrow considering it would be healed. He slowly fell asleep to the sound of her breathing.

It was around midnight and sitting in the lobby of the sunken hotel Star and Laddie and a still asleep Maddie. The boys were out feeding. Marko made two puncture wounds on a women's wrist draining some of her blood for his baby sister. 

In the cave Laddie sat on the floor next to Maddie who lied on the old worn out catch. Playing with a puzzle that he's completed probably a thousands times. Star watched the young boy , the discomfort in the room was bold and you could feel the tension between the two. " Laddie are you alright" she asked calmly not knowing how he might react. Laddie glanced up at Star shrugging his shoulders. " where were you Star. I needed your help". Laddie started tearing up, Star looked at the young boy before she started to cry as well. I'm sorry Laddie, I know you needed help I'm sorry. Star pulled the young boy into her letting him cry into her shoulder. 

An hour later Maddie started to stir a bit. Star looked over as the young girl whimpered. The bandages had been removed by Marko before the boys had left, Maddie still had a mild headache. " Hey mads are you alright ?" Maddie nodded. Laddie and Maddie ended up coloring in some coloring books Star had gotten them. The boys walked in noticing their baby sister awake. " Hey! Mads you're awake" Marko was pumped that his sister was okay. It had been hard watching her sleep with bandages around her small head. David bent down to her eye level " are you feeling alright?" Maddie just nodded her head. David took that as an okay, she wasn't crying and she didn't seem to be in pain. 

Dwayne was taking notes in his head of how she reacted to certain things, he took pride in himself for being the most observant of the group. She had some dried blood in her hair so he made the small girl go with Star to wash up. The boys felt at ease about how things had turned out, she seemed okay with this life and getting her to drink wouldn't be so hard now because her body needed it to survive. All they could hope for now was peace for just a little while.
