After the Spanish Grand Prix,Mercedes filled an complaint to the FIA saying that Red Bull were using a flexible rear wing which was illegal because it could cause more downforce than usual causing nasty crashes.They breached Article 3.9 of the FIA rules.A lot of teams suddenly had problems including Alfa Romeo and Ferrari,but they all changed their rear wings later on the season.Red Bull showed footage from Emilia Romagna Grand Prix in Italy where they said "it was clear" that Mercedes were using flexible wings too on Hamilton's car.The controversy went on as some said it had implications on the results of certain races which could've meant points which could decide the title earlier into the season
