~Rory's POV~
"So, what's the plan for today?" I ask.
"Well, since you came over yesterday to study and we didn't get to it, I thought that was something that we should do. Unless there's something else that you want to do." Tristan said with a seductive tone in his voice.
"Um- - I don't think there's anything I can think of," I say, my voice getting quieter with each word.
"You can't think of anything else? Are you sure?" He says getting closer to me.
"Uh, nope. Studying is what we should be doing." I say walking around him with a flustered look on my face. He does something to me and it's not what expected.
"Okay. Well, I should go get my books then." He says walking away.
"Alright. Wait, where do you want to work?" I ask just standing in my spot.
"The couch is the most comfortable."
"Alrighty then."
He comes back with his books, sits next to me on the couch and we begin with the first subject which is physics.
"Okay, this is an easy one. It's in the notes Mrs. Morgan gave us last week. What is Newton's first law?" I ask quizzing him.
"An object in motion stays in motion and an object at rest stays at rest."
"Very nicely done," You're smart. Why are you failing your classes?" I ask curiously.
"Because I know that could be doing better things."
"Like what? Breaking into safes with friends who are bad influences on you? Flirting with me? Staring at me during classes?"
"Is that something you enjoy? Do you enjoy having all of my attention on you? Do you have the joy of knowing that you are the only thing on my mind 24/7? Knowing that I can't stop thinking about you and him being together. How is your boyfriend anyway?"
"I um-- I wouldn't know. He's not my boyfriend anymore." I say numbly.
"Why not." He sits up looking at me.
"He didn't want to be," I say, not mentioning the embarrassing part.
"Idiot." He scoffs.
"Thanks, but it's not a big deal.
"Yeah, well, I didn't like him anyway." He says smiling up at me.
"You're the only one not trying to protect me from this so-called heartbreak. I don't feel sad about it."
"Oh, you'll feel the heartbreak. It'll come around soon and when it does, if you need someone to talk to about it, I'm here. You'll always know where to find me."
"Thanks. I really appreciate it." I look into his green eyes and I feel myself getting absorbed into them. He moves a strand of hair from my face behind my ear. I feel myself leaning in and I want to kiss him, but I don't think I'm ready for it yet. So, instead, I just lean my head on his shoulder. Playing it safe.
"Rory?"
"Hmh?"
"I like you."
"I like you too, Tristan."
"I don't want to rush into anything with you, see as you were recently broken up with, but I want to see where this goes." He says solemnly.
"I would like that," I say with the same tone."
We're sitting comfortably on the couch and the doorbell rings. "I'll get it. It's probably your mom. She said she would come to get you." He says getting and walking towards the door.
"Okay. I'll go get my stuff." I say getting up and walking away to the guest room. I get my things and I walk out of the room. I walk to the door and I see mom standing there. "Hey, mom."
"Hey, kid. I'm sorry about everything," she says apologetically.
"I'm sorry for just leaving without a note. I was just angry. It won't happen again." I say.
"Let's go home. Thank you Tristan for taking care of my daughter." My mom sincerely.
"Anytime."
"I'll meet you in the car. I'll just be a minute," I say.
"Okay, then the car is where I'll be." My mom says.
"Thank you for letting me stay. I really appreciate it."
"Hey, you're my only real friend. That's gotta be worth something, right?" He says.
"Yeah well, I do. So, I will see you on Monday." I say kissing him on the cheek. "Bye, Tristan."
"Bye, Rory."
I walk to the car and get in.
So, any thoughts on dinner?" Mom asks.
"How about Lukes?" I ask already knowing the answer.
"Yeah, duh. I was just testing you." She jokingly says
