Gamzee had always been a bit different from the other trolls. He was more laid-back, more carefree. He didn't take things as seriously as he should have. But that was part of his charm, part of what made him so appealing to others.

But as the sweeps went by, Gamzee started to change. He became more distant, more withdrawn. He stopped hanging out with his friends, stopped going to parties. He seemed to be lost in his own world, a world that no one else could understand.

It wasn't until later that Karkat found out what was really going on. He had heard rumors, of course, but he never believed them. He never thought that Gamzee, his friend, could be doing something so foolish, so dangerous.

But when Karkat found Gamzee huddled in a corner, his eyes glazed over, his skin pale and clammy, he knew that the rumors were true. Gamzee had become addicted to hard drugs.

Karkat tried to talk to Gamzee, to reason with him, but it was no use. Gamzee was lost in his addiction, lost in a world of his own making. He didn't want to listen, didn't want to hear what Karkat had to say.

And so Karkat was left with no choice but to watch as Gamzee spiraled out of control. He watched as Gamzee lost everything that was important to him, his friends, his family, his home. He watched as Gamzee became a shell of his former self, a mere shadow of the troll he used to be.

It was a slow, painful process. Gamzee's addiction took everything from him, leaving him with nothing but his own misery. He would spend his days wandering the streets, looking for his next fix. He would beg, borrow, and steal to get his hands on the drugs that he so desperately craved.

And as the sweeps went by, Gamzee's addiction only got worse. He started to lose touch with reality, to see things that weren't there. He became paranoid, delusional, convinced that everyone was out to get him.

Karkat tried to help. He tried to get Gamzee into rehab, to get him the help he needed. But it was too late. Gamzee was too far gone, too lost in his addiction to see the truth.

And so Karkat was left with no choice but to watch as his friend slowly destroyed himself. He watched as Gamzee's addiction consumed him, body and soul. He watched as Gamzee slipped away, leaving nothing but a shell behind.

In the end, there was nothing Karkat could do. He had lost his friend to the drugs, lost him to a world that he could never hope to understand. And so he mourned, mourned for the troll that Gamzee used to be, and mourned for the troll that he had become.
