“And where are you off to?” asked Mrs Grimm, she was my neighbour.

I was on my way out when I found her standing by the door and I already caught the fresh smell of baked goods. She always brought me some whenever she had time and it was something I loved about staying in this apartment.

“Hello Mrs Grimm.” I smiled at her and then eyed the tray. “What’s it going to be today.”

“I baked a few pastries. You weren't around yesterday and this morning, so I couldn't bring them over to you yesterday. I was lucky to find you here now, as I nearly missed you it seems.”

“Oh about that...” I wasn’t here yesterday because I got fucked in the woods by my mate. I wasn’t going to tell her that. “I was out with friends and thanks by the way.” I smiled and took the goods from here, before walking inside to leave it on the kitchen counter.

“With some friends?”

“Yea.” I walk back to the door, grabbing my car keys. “I am going to meet with some friends again.”

“Strange. I never saw you hang around with any friends. I also have to admit that you’re different. I can't tell what it is...” She said and stared at me almost as if she was getting somewhere, which she definitely was not. I wasn't going to tell her anything about last night, Mrs Grimm was like triple my age. And also my witch teacher, if that's what it's called.

After I got adopted by Doc, his wife suggested I get trained by a witch, which the pack obviously didn't have but Mrs Grimm had the expertise because her husband was a which. She knows all about magic, even though she isn't a which and I have learnt a lot from her, aside from how good her cookies, cake and pastries taste. Even now I'm craving for them and I wish I asked Greg to come over to my place instead.

“Mrs Grimm, there is nothing different about me. I just decided to be more open to people and let them in, like you always told me.”

“Right, as if I will believe that!” She scoffed and stepped aside for me to close and lock my door. I decided to walk her to her apartment.

I needed to change the subject. It wasn't getting us anywhere and thinking about Greg will start to make me flustered. I also remembered that she somewhat had a thing for Doc. Not that it's any of my business, but I always feel this vibe between them when the two of them are in one room and it's kinda hard to miss.

After walking her to her apartment door, I thanked her again for the baked goods and then made my way to the stairs, to head downstairs and to my car that was waiting in the parking area. I got in the car and took a deep breath.

Luka became very excited again because we were heading off to see our mate. I on the other hand, definitely wanted to see him, but I didn't know what it would be like when I did get there. PJ probably didn't invite many people, but still, I doubt he'd want me around after the years I've been a dick towards him and Zack.

Besides that, they’d certainly get suspicious when they see me hanging out with Greg all of a sudden. There's also the council member guy who came into town. If he finds out about me and Greg, he'll run off to the council and it will become a serious problem when they find out two of the most powerful werewolf species are destined to have their souls bonded together, and may be a threat to the entire society. Maybe I was being paranoid, but now was the time to put all the risks into inconsideration.

But this wasn't the time to overthink all this. I couldn't call Greg and tell him that I couldn't make it and if I wasn't careful, he'd eventually sense what I'm feeling or thinking right now. Our bond isn't tight yet, it's still weak but it does this whole on and off thing. Aside from that, I didn't want to disappoint him. He made the effort to ask me, to hang out with him tonight and I said yes, promising him that I was willing to get to know him better. And I'm not the person who'd ditch someone like that, especially not my mate.

I had to go and maybe it was time, I forget about all the risks and just try to enjoy my time.

I started driving and took the shortest route throughout town to get to PJ's. He actually lived in Bestwood, a suburban outside of the town's central and I used a route pass the woods to get there.

Soon car lights came into my view and I actually saw a car standing in the middle of the road. I slowed down my car because I had to see if there was any way I could drive around them but as I heard the car, it became more clearer for me to see that it was actually a man and woman stuck next to the road. Smoke came from the car and I knew then that they probably got stuck in the road because their engine failed while driving. Something magic could fix, so I immediately wanted to help.

I quickly turned over and then climbed out. I slammed the door shut and checked the time, it was only 06:00 pm. I still had more than enough time to get there, and I was pretty sure Greg wouldn't mind if I was a little late.

“Hi, there!” I heard the woman greet me as she saw that I was walking to them. “I’m so sorry. My boyfriend and I were on our way to Postmasburg and then suddenly the car just stopped driving!” She said, looking a rather a bit shy.

I put my phone away and looked at their car. I then reassured her that it was fine. “Oh, there's no problem, I understand. Do you need any help?”

She looked at me and then at her boyfriend and he nodded at her. She then turned her head back to me. “Uhm, yea sure! We would really appreciate it!”

Can’t the guy talk for himself? I stopped myself before I said that out loud and went closer to access the situation myself. I knew absolutely nothing about care mechanics, but where magic is concerned and where it needs to be used, logic doesn't apply here and I want going to use any mechanics to solve their problem. I first needed to find the source.

“So...did the engine moke up before or after it stopped?” I asked them.

I received no response, so I turned around to look at them, but suddenly something pricked me on the side of my neck. After I felt it and it suddenly felt like it was burning under the skin around my neck, I caught the scent of wolfsbane and had realized what the hell that just was. But it was too late.

My head felt heavy and my body became weak. My head then started spinning and as I tried to keep my eyes open, I collapsed. I couldn't move, and everything became blurry. This was all a fucking trap and I let my guard down. I needed to get up, I had to fight it, but everything just became dark.
