Lullaby

From every day then on, Kyle spent all of his time in Stan's hospital room. He slept there, he ate there, he only went home to take a shower, which he didn't do too often as he was petrified to leave his crush all alone. Cartman came in every day and gave Kyle the work for the day to do so he didn't fail.

When his family came back, the boy's parents were devastated. They knew how much Kyle loved the boy. Even Ike started crying. Sheila said that he could only stay over as much as he does if he takes care of his work, so that's what he did. Even Shelly came from college to visit. She acted like she hated him, but the girl had a special place in her heart for her turd brother.

Everybody came to visit including Butters and even Jimmy! Kenny came weekly and Kyle was just there every single day. Every day felt like forever as he prayed to God to wake his friend up.

Kyle had gotten out of bed to check on Stan in the middle of the night. He hated being separated from him, because they had to put him in a different room to sleep in at night. Kyle was so antsy and wanted to spend every second with his best friend. He leaned over and sang to Stan his favorite song of those Kyle rarely sang to him, (start the clip around here) Lullabye by Billy Joel. Stan loved when Kyle sang. Of course, Kyle sang very rarely, but Stan thought his voice was angelic and savored every moment of it.

"Good night my angel time to close your eyes."

Kyle had curled up onto the left side of Stan and cuddled him as he sang.

"And save these questions for another day."

He stroked his greasy hair and laughed under his breath.

"I think I know what you've been asking me"

Kyle couldn't help but start crying with his friend in his arms.

"I think you know what I've  been trying to say"

He admitted he had some days questioned if he would ever be able to see his best friend again..

"I promised I would never leave you"

That thought vanished too quickly though most of the time.

"And you should always know"

The ginger placed a long and soft kiss on his friend's dry lips.

"Wherever you may go"

He placed his hand on his head and brought the boy closer, a tear escaping his eye.

"No matter where you are"

He turned his friend around carefully, so he was facing Kyle..

"I never will be far away"

As Kyle pulled the boy even closer and closed his eyes, still singing but softly.

"Good night my angel now it's time to sleep"

But he stopped short, leaping up in shock..

"And still so many things I want to say"

As he heard the sound of a flat line beep and looked up at Stan's monitor.

"Remember all the songs you sang for me"

The line was still..it was the most horrific thing the young teen had ever seen.

"When we went sailing on an emerald bay"

He screamed as doctors filled the room around him..

"And like a boat out on the ocean"

He cried hysterically, screaming and thrashing as the doctors pulled him away from his best friend

"I'm rocking you to sleep"

It all went blurry as the nurses forced them apart..

"The water's dark and deep"

His screams became muffled and he choked on his tears

"Inside this ancient heart"

The boy grew dizzy as the doctors departed from Stan one by one.

"You'll always be apart of me"

They unplugged his monitors and equipment he was hooked up to after what had seemed like forever..

(It all came back to Kyle. From their small guitar hero hangouts to their long sleepovers. From their first kiss to the time Kyle had layed his eyes on the boy for the very first time. From whether the meaningless fights they had gotten into or when his friend had moved away, this was the most depressing of them all..)

"Good night my angel now it's time to dream."

well Kyle screamed and thrashed rapidly against the strong doctors.

"And dream how wonderful your life would be"

It was all a huge blur as his ears started to ring.

"Someday your child may cry"

The main doctor went up and pulled the blanket up over Stan's head

"And if you sing this lullaby"

And the doctor's around Kyle let him go

"Then in your heart, there will always be a part of me"

And the poor kid fell to the ground, crying madly into his shaking hands. His poor angel..

"Some day we'll all be gone"

His life had flashed before his glassy, wide eyes

"But lullabies go on and on"

As he had realized

"They never die"

He had just watched his best friend,

"That's how you and I"

The love of his life,

"Will be."

Leave him forever.
