"Daddy daddy, can me and Macy go see the swans pretty please?" Eight year old Ivy pleaded, holding her sisters hand.
Their father sat perched at the old oak wood desk in the center of his large office, waving his wand to disappear the stacks of papers. The girls stood in anticipation as he rubbed his chin, pretending to silently debate even though they were sure he'd say yes. There wasn't much he would say no to for his girls, especially when it came to their love for swans.
"I suppose so..." he said, the young girls jumping up and down, squealing in excitement as they ran towards the office door.
"Ivy, make sure to watch your sister okay? And be in by sunset." He added.
"Yes daddy!" The girl said, once again taking her sisters hand to run through the manor. Going to see the swans at sunset in the backyard pond was Ivy and Macys favorite thing.
Their little feet pattered along the pond bridge, running into the big white gazebo in the center to catch sight of the beautiful creatures they'd been longing to see all day.
"Look!" Macy shouted, pointing towards the right of the pond as a momma swan and her four babies swam over. A few weeks ago they had decided on naming the momma swan Avalyn. The girls sat mesmerized by them, sitting on the edge of the gazebo to watch them make their laps around the spacious pond.
The sun had begun to set, reflecting beautiful pink hues on the pond that made it seem like a dream.
"What should we name the babies?" Ivy asked her sister, swinging her little legs over the edge in contentment.
Macy rubbed her chin in thought, "How about we name them after stars!" She giggled.
Macy had just started learning about stars, quickly becoming obsessed with constellations at the age of six. She'd ask mother to read to her about a new constellation every night before bed, sometimes begging for a second or third.
Ivy nodded in response, waiting for Macy to start naming the little white swans as the sun continued to dip lower and lower.
"The first ones Cassie, then Leo, Aries, annnnd..." she tapped her chin again, "Draco."
The name sounded familiar to Ivy, remembering her parents mentioning it before. He was another pureblood boy around her age, a Malfoy she recalled.
"I like those names Macy, good job!" Ivy smiled, hugging her sister as the sun slipped beyond the horizon, signifying their time with the swans was over.
"Alright let's go inside!" The older sister said, pulling Macy up as she whined, "But I want to see the swans more!"
Her lip quivered as she looked up at Ivy with pleading eyes.
"We can come see them first thing tomorrow how about that? I'm sure daddy will let us! Besides the swans need to get some sleep too." Ivy reasoned, Macy reluctantly agreeing as she waved bye to the swans and blew them kisses.
The girls headed back inside the large manor, scurrying to the dinner table which had already been set by the house elves with mother waiting in her seat.
"How were the swans girls?" She asked as they crawled into their seats.
"Good!" Ivy smiled, placing her napkin in her lap.
"I named all the baby swans after stars mommy!" Macy said excitedly, "can I get two stories tonight?"
"Wonderful sweetheart! You'll have to introduce me to them tomorrow" their mother smiled, "As for two stories, we'll see..." she winked, making the girls giggle.
