Third P.O.V

Darren has just killed the Warlord and now rest comfortably in his room . As he dreams of nothing and simply waits in the darkness, wondering what will happen when he wakes .

As this is happening, a certain Valkyrie is weighing her options. What her head is telling her to do and what her heart is telling her to do . Her father lays dead before her on a table , and she struggles between what her father told her to do after his death and the vengeance she wants to take . She knows the clan will follow her lead ... no , no, she will not betray her father's trust and dishonor his death for something petty like revenge . They will be allowed to leave as her father's word ordained .

Then, a thought crosses her mind. He never said anything about following her father's killer. She calls for her closest friend, another valkyrie, her name is Helga

Helga's POV

I am a bit worried for Vera even though the cheif went out in a fantastic duel . He was still her friends father, and that would hurt anyone , and now she Vera has summoned Helga to her tent . As I enter, she is merely sitting on a chair looking at a little wooden carved horse . I remember it from a time when she invited me into her home, and I saw her father carving it . I was in awe how such a large man could do be so gentle with something so small , but he always did have a way of surprising people . But it doesn't matter right now. All that matters is that her friend and cheiftess needs her support , and she will by odin give it.

I wait for her to speak to me .... but she remains silent, so I speak first

H: You summoned me, my cheiftess.

V: ....

H : Vera, I know this must b-

V : You will wait for that warrior to leave, and you will track him.

H : Your father sai-

V: That they would be allowed to leave , he never said anything about following them.

I was speechless. Vera always hated when people would try to twist people words around to mean something else , and now she was doing it now . It seems greif has hit her harder than I thought.

H: Vera, you know that is not what he meant.

V: Are you claiming to know my father better than me ?

H : No . But I also recognize when you are looking for an excuse to do something.

V : ....

H : I know you morn for your father's passing, but he made a oath would you have your father be an oathbreaker ?

Vera rises from the chair and charges at me , though I hold my ground . She looks me dead in the eyes, and I see her's are swollen with tear and they are red. She is silent, and I see the hurt in her eyes and remain.

V : That warrior will be notified of the mark I have placed on him, and in one week, you will pursue him and bring hi mto me , a
Am I clear?

H : He deserves that much, at least .

V : ....

Vera returns to her seat and continues looking at the small wooden horse . I leave her tent and send a small prayer to whoever will answer it and pray that Vera will find some peace and that this warrior's death will be honorable and glorious .

The next day

Darren's POV

I wake, and I feel how my body aches . I knew the Warlord's blows were hard, but by the hells it hurt worse than I thought they would. I lay in bed thinking the journey ahead of me and how I must traverse it to get back to Olivia and Julia and the others. I get out of bed, the birds chirping it's as if only 2 days ago this fortress was under siege day and night , and now it is ... peaceful . It is quite odd, but it is still a good thing. I get dressed and leave my chambers , and run into a few gaurds who salute me, and I salute them back. They look up at me in awe. It is an odd feeling being so admired , I just hope I can live up to it.

As I was making my way through the fort, I came across Leon and the Warden. It seems they are discussing something .

Third P.O.V

D : What are the too of you speaking about ?

WD : Hmm , oh morning, Forge . Leon and I were just discussing how to proceed and deal with evacuating everyone.

L : Yes, we have been trying to route and plan on the best way to be at an ally settlement or legion within the shortest amount of time.

D : That is wise considering the fact we have no idea when the vikings will begin to move again. I am gonna start heading to were some .... people I care about are residing.

L : How far is that ?

D : I am not sure , I will see, though, when I get there.

WD : Well, let be known. Forge that you shall always have a place and friend if you ever wish to return to serve.

D: Thank you, sir.

As the Warden sticks out his hand for Darren to shake, they grasp eachothers forearms and give a firm shake. The same gesture is then given to Leon.

Darren starts making his way to the gate and arrives, and as he stands there looking back and reflecting, all he can think about it is how much he wishes to see his family again. He begins his journey, having earned his freedom, and has started the cultivation of his legend. Thoifhe unbeknownst to him, he has also forged himself a long-lasting enemy
