(Guy x MC) Trouble

MC rests her head on the book she had spent the past few hours reading. Now that she could actually read these she was doing better in her classes, but they were so boring. So many concepts and words that made no sense to her, and for a book talking so much about a need to visualize, there were very little pictures. And she thought her school textbooks sucked...

"Milady?" Her familiar flutters up beside her on the desk, "It is almost time for dinner, maybe you should take a break."

"I agree..." She mumbles into the pages. Telling Sherry she was just going to go back to her dorm and study between the end of lectures and dinner might've been a bad idea, especially since she actually went through with it. MC genuinely just wanted to curl up on the bed next to her and sleep.

It's not that she hadn't wanted to spend time with Sherry, but lots of the other students were angry at her for all the attention she got from the royalty attending the Academy. Turns out being friendly creates more trouble than needed.

It was why she politely told Guy she'd be fine studying on her own from now on, even though she knew she wouldn't be (he probably knew that too, which is why he tried to demand her not to cancel their arrangement).

"Perhaps we could go down to the refectory early!" Her cat pipes up with a bright, cheery smile.

"Are you trying to trick me into getting you some milk?" She laughs, finally getting up from her chair.

He giggles, "Maybe."

"Little rascal." She scratches his fuzzy head.

He meows gleefully and they make their way down towards the kitchen.

"Let's see... the milk should be..." MC glances through the pantry. "There it is!"

"Hurray!" Her familiar cheers.

"Here you are!" She sets the plate of milk in front of him.

"Thank you Milady!" He cheers, immediately drinking it up.

She scratches his fluffy body, carefully avoiding his wings, as he drinks his milk at an impressive speed.

She turns around as the sound of clicking shoes stops behind her. There was Prince Guy in the doorway, staring at her.

"Oh, uh, h-hi Guy..." She waves awkwardly. "What are you doing here?"

He doesn't say anything. This makes her try to fill the silence herself.

"Uh, not that you can't come here! I just didn't expect to ever see you here..." She says hastily.

"..." His cold expression remains completely unchanged.

"..." MC decides the best option she has is just to silently pet her cat.

"How go your studies?" Guy finally asks.

"Uh..."

"Milady has been applying herself most diligently." Her familiar answers for her, "She's been studying very hard."

"Yep, just taking a break." She nods.

"..." Guy doesn't react to such a report. She didn't really answer with the information he was asking for, so he was clearly waiting for her to elaborate.

But MC returns her gaze to her cat as she scratches his ears, attempting to ignore the crimson gaze burning a hole in her.

Guy clicks his tongue in annoyance before stating what he wants, "Show me."

"What?" MC pales as she looks up at him.

"Show me the extent of your progress." He clarifies.

"Oh, uh..." MC grimaces. Admittedly studying alone gave little to no results (as she predicted it would), probably because she had no idea what she was doing. But she didn't want Guy to know that because he'd insist she study under him again... And then everyone would start spreading rumors again.
