-HARRY POV-
"Professor, why do the dementors affect me so?" I ask, curiously to Professor Lupin. I had just gotten out of the hospital wing, and now, I am walking in a forest with Lupin. "I mean, more than everyone else?"
"Listen." Lupin sighs, as he stops walking. "The dementors are the foulest creatures to walk this earth. They feed on every good feeling, every happy memory, until a person is left with absolutely nothing but his worst experiences." He starts walking again, as I trail behind. "You are not weak, Harry. The dementors affect you most because there are true horrors in you past. Horrors your classmates can scarcely imagine-"
"But what about (Y/n). She's gone through the same, probably worse." I cut him off.
"Yes, she has gone through horrible, horrible things. But she doesn't fear dementors. The dementors can sense the power she has over them, and the connection between her and voldemort are far stronger than yours." Lupin explains.
"Is it because of her parents being death eaters?" I question.
Lupin runs a hand along his jaw to his chin. "Ah, so you know about that?" I nod at his question. "Part of it is. The Rookwoods are powerful wizards and witches. (Y/N)'s dad was a crazy good wizard, but he over stepped his powers and it landed him in Azkaban."
"Actually, (Y/n) told me they're out of Azkaban." I point out.
"So i heard." Lupin shakes his head. "The poor girl. They'll brain wash her."
"No they won't." I snap, in a stubborn way. Lupin acts as if it's normal the way i speak. "She's completely different from them. They won't be able to work their horrible magic on her."
"I don't know about that. Take Peter Pettigrew as an example. One of my closest friends as a child. He left for the winter holidays one day, came back an insane death eater the next. Can you guys how?" Lupin looks at me, raising his brows.
"Because of his parents?"
Lupin points at me and nods. "Correct you are."
"(Y/n) isn't like that." I defend her.
"I'm sure she isn't. But, all I am trying to say is watch out. That girl is full of surprises."
We walk in silence the rest of the way, before standing next to Hedwig, who was sitting on a cut down tree.
"I'm scared, Professor." I break the silence. Lupin looks at me.
"I didn't mean to make you scared of h-" He starts. I cut him off.
"Not of (Y/n). Of the dementors." I snap. He nods. "I tried getting (Y/n) to teach me, but she can't. It's hard."
Lupin nods. "Took me a long time to master the Patronous charm. Seeing a 13 year old girl do it completely shocked me. But as I said, she is full of surprises."
"Could you teach me?" I say out of no where. Lupin breathes in, thinking, before nodding and shrugging.
"I mean, perhaps I could teach you. But after the holidays." He agrees. Hedwig pushs off the branch and flies away. "For now, I need to rest."
-TIME SKIP, (Y/N) POV-
i let out an emphatic sigh. Another trip to Hogsmeade, third wheeling Ron and Hermione without Harry. Hermione whacks Ron aggressively on the arm.
"Could you stop?" I hear her whisper. They were standing in front of me. Hermione looks back at me, trying not to meet my eye. "She's just missing Harry." I could tell she was whispering so I wouldn't hear, but she isn't very good at it.
