A/N: Bella is Luke’s nickname for Isabella. No one else is supposed to call her that except for him, just in case anyone was wondering
There’s one thing I should remember not to do when going places with Luke and Brandon; leave them in charge.
The original plan was for Jaycee, Danielle and I to meet them at the party, so that we didn’t all have to pile into my car. But, Luke had seemingly forgotten that his parents were going out and left him and Brandon stranded at his house. Unless of course, his lovely best friend came to pick them up.
Danielle, Brandon and Jaycee were taking the back seats, I was driving and Luke sat in the passenger side.
“Brandon!” Danielle scolded. “You’ve got so much more room! I’m falling out the window over here!” She shoved him closer to Jaycee and I giggled from the front.
“Sure, all two inches of it. I’ll just sit on the floor.” I assumed he was joking until I turned around and saw him scrunched up between the back seat and the space in between the two front seats. He smiled sheepishly and adjusted the radio.
“Why don’t you sit in the back? I can drive.” Luke pleaded with me. He had just got his license and was dying to drive anywhere and anytime he could.
“Because it’s my mom’s old car. If you break it, you’re buying me a new one.” I teased and flashed him a smile. “Besides, you’re a newbie.”
“I’m a what?”
“A newbie!”
“You’re lucky I’m a nice guy or I’d take you down.” He shook his head and glared. “Newbie.”
I ruffled his hair. “You won’t hurt me.”
He laughed. “Yeah, but I’ll steal your car!”
Brandon sighed from in between the seats. “Luke, would you shut up? You’re distracting her!”
Jaycee and Danielle laughed from the back and whispered something I couldn’t hear. I kept my eyes on the road.
“Oh, sorry Bella. I know I can be pretty distracting.” He flipped his hair and winked at no one in particular. Brandon scoffed.
I rolled my eyes. “Brandon, it’s okay. We’re here anyway.”
We pulled up in between a two cars and surveyed the scene. We were easily a block away and I could hear the sound of muffled music and teenagers voices. Tristan’s house was huge; no denying it, his parents were rich. We walked down the sidewalk and up to his house, filled with people.
“Hey! Guys! So glad you could come!” Tristan came up to us, obviously already drunk and clapped Luke on the back. “You two dating yet?” He nodded at me and winked.
Luke shook his head. “Tristan she’s my best friend, not my girlfriend.” He looked down at his shoes and I remembered what I had been trying to forget. His kiss, the way it felt and how gentle he was. He really cared.
Tristan shrugged. “Whatever, man. And hey girls, give me a call sometime!” He winked at Jaycee, Danielle and I and nodded at Brandon.
Jaycee burst out laughing. “Okay, how drunk is he?”
“It’s not even nine yet.” Brandon rolled his eyes. “Speaking of that, I’d like a drink. Anyone want one?”
Danielle, Jaycee and Brandon made a run for the drinks and I stayed with Luke. His face was red and I was trying to figure out what he was thinking, but I couldn’t tell.
Every time someone mentioned Luke and I together, it had never been awkward until we kissed. I tried to forget the way it felt and how comfortable I felt with him, wherever I was.
