1 month after Mother died
Rafe's POV
"Ok now something is seriously wrong. She barely says a word and when she does it's short phrases. I am beginning to worry that our Mother passing has seriously played with her head." I needed someone to confide in so I turned to Danny.
We sat in my kitchen talking. He was doing the most listening though. Never really says a word. Kind of like Rory.
I let out all of my concerns that were mainly about my little sister. One thing I was not aware of was the fact my father was also occupying the kitchen and decided he should chip in on the conversation.
"Well I think she is selfish and should have been taking over her mothers jobs as soon as your mum stopped breathing. She is just wasting all this time being a sook. Only thinking about herself. The selfish bitch." He began to raise his voice after each word that was spoken. I was taken aback. Not quite sure what to say as I did not want my dad to turn it onto me.
He continued.
"You know what would be good for her?" He stood there, beer in hand, staring at the clock on the wall that was ticking as seconds went past. "One of those schools that teach girls how to be a woman."
oh shit.
"Isn't she a little young for that sir?" Danny chipped in.
"What Danny means is that she is only 10. She still has a part of her childhood to live until she takes up all the responsibilities of a woman. How about we reconsider in a couple years? When she has matured." I stepped in before my poor excuse of a Father could say some smart remark that would result in an insult or worse.
"Oh well, it would be good for her. That way she could take care of the two of us until we leave." He said that with a smirk and a glint of mischievousness in his eyes. I did not like that look one bit.
Authors note
i purposely haven't written scenes with Danny and Lorelai together since i want them to be kind of foreign to each other later in the book. And also because Rafe doesn't like them interacting. please comment because i love to read them :)
