Emerald

Another short one for today!

(Averys pov)

I woke up to the obnoxiously loud ring tone Jameson had set up for himself on my phone. He said he wanted to make sure I had to answer his calls to stop it. 

I checked the time on my phone, and did the math in my head to try and figure out what time it would be where he was. 1:37 my phone screen flashed up at me. 1:37 and not the time i wanted to have to answer one of his odd questions  that's he'd been calling to ask me while he was away.

"What. Do. You. Want." I said in the angriest tone I could muster while still mostly asleep.  "Good morning to you too heiress." I could practically hear him grinning. I groaned as i took my phone and laid back on my pillow. "You woke me up at one thirty, I wouldn't exactly call that morning." 

"Anyways" He said, brushing off my comment. "I called to ask what your favorite colour might be." "You don't know my favorite colour?" I asked him, trying to force him to get to his point faster.

" I had my suspicions, but I wanted to get this one right." I rolled my eyes at his attempted to avoid my comment. 

"Well since you woke me up, I get to ask you a question first." "Done." "What colour are your eyes?" He paused for a moment. "Green? Why?" I sighed. "I know they're green, but what kind of green would you say?" "I don't maybe emerald? Again why is this important?" I curled my head back into the pillow behind me.

"To answer your question, Emerald." 

Silence.

"Well, goodnight then." I said, making sure he was still on the other line.

"Goodnight Avery." And with that he hung up.

His eyes were the only thing I saw i my dreams that night.

Days later 

When I woke up that morning there was a small box on the edge of the bed. I studied the box carefully and found a paper taped to the bottom of it.

Was the only word the piece of paper contained. I opened the top carefully and found myself looking at a ring with a small emerald in the center. I put it on, admired it for a second, and then went off into the hallways. Jameson was home.
