When Summer Fell For Winter

— A Poem For & About K —

I remember the first time I met you
Your white smile and your blue eyes alight
Just for me I thought
We laughed and time flew
And It was then I hoped I'd end up with you
Because the thought of us just made sense
Like the gentle way Summer falls into Winter
And let's his ridged hand guide her
And the leaves change in response to their intrinsic harmony
That was us
But now I wonder
Did I imagine and fixate on a fleeting moment
Did you ever see me and love filled your heart
In my head I worried and prayed for your excitement
But for what?
It was all in vain
Because fall never came and while winter was here, he wasn't to stay
