Where were you?

— A Poem For Those Who Are Still Kind —

I hope you'll forgive for the way I have been
The delusions took over and for a second it was real
I was just so excited at the prospects, I forgot to check the facts
Don't mount your high horse just yet, Sir
I have painted ours flaws and took what is mine
Yours are on the table, so don't look at me
Where were you when I was still kind?
Where were you when I was still whole?
Where were you as I begged and graveled?
So small and meek, I cowered in the corner
Like a twig, it was then that my heart snapped
So Yes, I'll walk out that door
And no, I won't ever look back
You, Sir, deserve far less than that
