We get to my mama's house and I turn around and say, "When we get inside, just follow my lead cuz my mama think yall my kids." I wait for them to give me some type of response. I got crazy looks and very hesitant "ok"s from both Shiah and Bunny.
we all get out of the car and walk to the front door. I rang her door bell and waited for like 10 seconds then I knocked on the door. I got no response so I knock on the door a little bit harder. finally I hear movement and got greeted by my mother cussing me out for so called, "Banging a damn whole in the door". after she cussed me out, she looked behind me and saw Shiah and Bunny standing there. Her eyes lit up with excitement and her voice instantly got sweet. She pushed me out the way and Greeted the two kids with a wide smile. "Ah luk at mi babies!" she said in her thick jamacian accent. "Wah yuh name?" she asked Bunny. "My name's Taitum, but i go by 'Bunny'. " she replied. " An yuh? " my mom asked as she turned to Shiah. "My name's Shiah, but you can call me 'Shi' for short."he said replying to my mother.
she opens the door wider for all of us to move in. Instantly I was hit with the smell of Brown stew chicken and rice & peas. I start to head for the kitchen until my mom hits me on the back of the head, "dat nuh fi yuh! it fi mi an di pickney." my mom said. damn that shit really hurt.
I go over to the living room and sit on the couch while Shiah, Bunny, and my mom eat my favorite foods (ik it's actually alfredo but im the damn author so suck it up). This shit sucks.
5 mins later
everyone was finally finished eating. they walked into the living room and sat on the couches. "Stokeley, yuh can go eat, de food still hot." I get up and go to the kitchen. I see my plate already prepared. I sit down and begin eating.
after about 5 minutes, I finish eating and head back to the living room. I go sit down on the couch and begin watching t.v. with everyone else.
"Mi cya chat tuh yuh?" my mom asks me as she get up and walks to the dining room. "yes ma'am?" I say as i follow behind her. " Mi kno wah yuh doing. Dem deh nuh yuh pickney. Waah really gwaan?" she asks. "They have to live with me until my job says that they have to leave," I reply. "Whaa yuh mean?" "It's hard to explain but, my job requires me to take care of them until they take the kids away. I have two more kids that are supposed to come but they aren't here yet." I try to explain. My mom looks at me crazy for a moment, then says "Whateva. ok" and goes back to the living room.
as we get back to the living room I see Bunny and Shiah asleep on the couch. I look towards my mom and she nods her head signaling that I should go home while they stay here.
Next Day
I wake up to a quiet house. something seems a lil off....
Shiah and Bunny are still at my mom's house!
I get dressed and get in the car to pick them up. when I get there, I knock on the door and my mom opens it. "wha yuh want?" she asks "I need to get Shiah and Bunny" I say while the smell of breakfast hits my nose. "c'mon " my mom says while turning to walk in the house. I walk in and I see eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, waffles, and strawberries in the kitchen, laid out in a buffet style. we all go fix our plates and sit down and eat.
after about 20 minutes. we all finish and clean up. I clean my plate, then put it in the dishwasher. Then I turn around and ask the kids to get their stuff ready so we can leave.
they go in the guest room and come out with backpacks and changed clothes. we head towards the front door and say bye to my mom, then get in the car and go home.
